My windscreen got a chip and needed replacing.

 

RAC Auto windscreen did it and my insuance paid (shouldn't affect my NCB or premium etc).

 

I paid £60 exces but apparently it would have cost over £1000 if I was picking up the whole bill myself.

 

Almost makes the four years of comprehensive cover I've paid for since I got the car worth while!

no would of been around £180-£200 for a uk blue/blue windscreen outside of insurance policy, they always come up with £1000 for a import type. no need!

Didn't the 1999 cars have different screens in that they had heat reflective, rain repellent glass?

Yep.

Allegedly the screen came from Nissan in Japan - it looks the same as the original.

Well you will know as soon as the sun comes out or it rains!....I've got a heat reflective screen on my Citroen and the difference between that and the normal type windscreen is quite noticeable!
