Always full of surprises my little bundle of steel.

Took the car to Hi Q to get the tracking done. Sat in the ‘waiting room’ all nice and sweet, up goes the car on the high ramp thingymabob……. He aligns everything; the lasers are all in place ready to rumble. And the matey stops and starts walking in my direction.

And guess what now; the left hand steering gator (if that’s what it’s called) is broken! It’s like a rubber thing on the steering pole item…. (Steering column is it?)

Matey said he couldn’t do the tracking with that thing broken. He reckons the reasons why my tyres are probably wearing could be any of the following, changing suspension and tyre sizes from the standard puts everything out of place on the car, the gator being broken, the tracking could be out because of the other reasons. Pah who knows?

Anyway – £45 for a new gator (fitted) and tracking isn’t that bad is it …?

Oh and he was kind enough to point out that I had a power steering leak …….. :slap:

Its like a lucky dip owning this car, just never know what to expect next!!!:rolleyes:

:wack:

I'll stick to baking! :D

Unfortunately the laser alignment is probably not going to be good enough if you are suffering unusual tyre wear.

Have a look at this which kind of explains.

The steering gaitor won't affect the actual setting but they will have to take parts off to replace it so no point in getting the tracking etc done until the gaitor is done.

Good luck with getting it done but really you should try and get it done with a better system.

Darrell

Thanks Darrell
