My tax office asked me for a MIRAS 5 form to show how much mortgage interest I paid during 2001 (FFS. :xxx: ) After paying the building society to issue this form and sending it off to the tax office, they are now saying that it doesn't show the amount of interest paid. I fail to see how, because it was a fooking endowment mortgage, so every penny was interest.

I've been battling them over this for months now and it's really causing me lots of stress. They send me shitty letters EVERY fooking friday, to ruin my weekends. they also get more interest each time they do this. The job's worth in question had left the office early tonight, so I now have to wait AGAIN

Can I sue these pr1cks or what? I have sent them all the required information and I now feel that they are stalling me for time and to gain extra interest on the amount owed.

Cheers

Dave

You have supplied the form they asked for so just tell the tax office that's all you can do. I mean the tax year 2000/01 was 6 years ago in April this year so I think you've done pretty well to get anything from your (then) lender!

Why are HMRC going back 6 years anyway - tell them to get stuffed!

I used to be a tax manager in an accountancy practice and soooo pissed off dealing with the good old Inland Revenue. They are an "equal opprotunities employer" that means getting any old twat who cannot speak English to man their phones.

Plus, and I cannot remember exactly, but wasn't mortgage interest tax relief abolished before 2001?

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
