Where on earth do people mount the ballasts, do i have to take the whole headlamp out or something???

Depending on the lead length of the kit you purchased they will just about fit under the nose panel.

Others mount them underneath the headlights (have to remove headlights) or just leave them fixed under the engine bay just behind headlights.

It is one from DTA, and to be honest i can't figure out where under the panel i could put them, and where to thread the wires through?

Does the bumper have to come off to take headlights out?

Just remove the nose panel and bolt the brackets to the spare holes under there and run the wires behind the lights into the nose panel apature !

Its a bit more difficult if you have the standard air filter box !

i have the same ones from DTA. I burrowed a snug little hole for them behind the headlights by pushing wires and hoses out of the way and lobbed them in there. seems to be fine there. think installing them underneath the headlights would be tricky

Thanks everybody for the help, i have managed it now, i have done what Paul@SWZ said, the brackets are perfect for fitting to existing holes under the nose panel. I did'nt think the nose panel would fit again which is why i did'nt want to at first but the panel fits just fine and its an aftermarket panel aswell.

Anyway thanks again guys, appreciate it. :p

i was lucky as my car is still stripped so i mounted the units under the head lights out of the way

I managed to fit my dta ones under my nose panel although i had to extend the wires a wee bit.note to danny an extra 2-3inches of cable would be perfect!

I did a DIY job (it actually worked :wack: ) using Mercedes HID lights connected to a modded headlamp shell. The HID ballast is tied with clips to pipe brackets.

I just dumped mine in any space I could find in the engine bay.....

..this was on my old black UK zed mind you...not my current one

Cheers again guys, under the headlight panel has worked great, the wires only just make it though - but they do make it and they are not stretched, the comment about 2-3 inches extra - seconded. lol

Glad to hear you managed to fit them under the headlight panel. Did you receive the replacement ballast this morning?

I will see what I can do about adding some extra length to the wiring looms. It may take a while for this to filter through to the kits though as the wiring looms are manufactured by the thousand.

Hiya Dan, missed the bloody postman this morning, but i can get it from the sorting office this afternoon, so that won't be a problem, and i will get the old one to you once i'v fitted the replacement. As for wiring like i said it just reaches, a bit more wire would make it easier to hide the wiring, thats all. :p

I'm happy with it anyway, cheers dan.
