I dont believe it. I just put Sky Movies on and theres a little bloke in the corner of the screen doing hand signing for the deaf. I know they have to enjoy the Movies too but do these TV companies think that all deaf people only sit up at night watching TV? I think with todays technology this feature should be switchable so as we dont have to see it and the deaf viewers can see it all the time if they wish? :smash:

annoys me too, especially on discovery turbo, the signing man seemingly comes and goes randomly throughout the program you are trying to watch, how is this of any help to anybody!?

From memory, there is a legal requirement for tv channels to provide a certain amount of signed programming. So they put it all on in the graveyard shift as to not annoy the majority and the people who it's aimed at use one of these newfangled "VCR" type things to watch at a sensible hour

Surprised there still isn't a red button option for it to be switched off and on as well. I don't think they can afford to do it on all of the programs though, can't be cheap to give someone the amount of E's to do that much gurning and throw that many shapes!

FPMSL - Not very PC but amused the hell out of me.

Seeing as almost all deaf people can lip read, the whole thing seems a bit pointless.

Doesn't help much for voice overs though ! ;)

However, there is text commentary (egTeletext 888) for most programmes.
