22/23 September is Run What Ya Brung weedend. Event takes place at RAF Portreath near Redruth and is over both the Sat and Sun. This might be a good venue for the Cornish meet (Sunday 23 most preferable) and an opportunity for some of our more daring members to push their cars up the drag strip - no pun intended as I know most cars were being repaired at the last meet in Exeter. Although no "official" notification has been given, it has been advertsied on the local motorbike site and also on the South West Scoobies site so suggest it is a starter.

For those wishing to travel distance, I have a very large field next to my house which can easily accommodate cars and camping over the weekend. We could actually make a good weekend of this with a few bevvies on the Saturday night and go to the RWYB on the Sunday. Think the gates open about 1030. Have several BBQs so if the weather is on our side this could be a good event. Pubs are a short walk up the road but this is bandit country and they can be a little rough and ready. Alternatively, drive to some more up market place.

All great plans end in bloody disaster.

Was on the Martin Jennings Bike run this Sunday and happened to meet one of the guys who is running the RWYB at Portreath. Apparently it is for bikes only with only a few "special" cars being permitted to enter. Obviously we can still use this day for the meet if people are still up for it but its not a case of turning up with your car and taking it down the track. Bikes are fine - just turn up and blast down the runway. He wasn't sure about parking for cars but belived it shouldn't be a problem.

think i will attend the meet on 30th in bristol, sorry guys :(

Not sure if we a have a meet or not now?!

Shelton are you going on Sunday or sat or both?

I spoke to few guys in Penzance last w/end and they were going, new all about it.

All be it not Zeds: Supra, R33 and an Integra?

Takes longer to get to Redruth than Bristol from Plymouth, total nightmare...

Not right! redruth - plymouth A30, A38 1hr 20min. 61miles no traffic now.

plymouth - Bristol A38, M5 2hrs 120 miles

twice the distance!

60 mph to bristol... lol

Plymouth to Bristol 1hr 30 mins, do it all the time, dead easy drive..

Everyone should make a bigger effort, and make these meets bigger, all go to cornwall and all go bristol, which ever it is us Plymouth lot have to travel one way or the other, so sometimes a Plymouth meet should be held, as there are some good eating places and some good blasts to be had over the moors etc.

If you can do centre of Plymounth to cetre of Bristol in 1hr 30 I take my hat of to you!

takes me 18/20min. just to get from jct 19 to the centre, and I did that for 8 years.

We did Exeter a few weeks ago.

What Dave is saying is that we make an effort and travel all over the sw to attend meets, we had a meet in Plymouth for a dyno day and none of the cornish came apart from retro and zogg(the usual dedicated members) none of sw came either. Just seems unfair that we have to travel and it would make better meets if everyone made an effort..its once a month surely everyone can try to attend. It just seems that cornwall like to have there meets in cornwall and sw like to have theres up bristol way...i am aware that we had a exeter meet and that was cool, but we need to arrange these meets more fairly and try and get everyone together :)

Moan over,lol :p

The problem is that the SW area is large! Penzance to Gloucester.

I think that meetings should remain ad hoc and be as many as possible ( not everybody is going to make them all anyway due to commitments, broken cars etc.)

People will go to them near or far and if the mood takes them.

However there may be a case for having regular regional meets every 3 or 4 months in a largish areas, such as Plymouth, Exeter or Bristol, in rotation.

Any thoughts!

You guys don't understand how big a thing it is to leave the borders of Cornwall! If you drive more than 20miles to work each day in Cornwall its unusual, also there's still people who've never left their VILLAGE!!! no joke! Its not like 'the english' who think nothing of driving 50miles around london to go to work you know.

Time to get out and explore the world then... ;)
