i asked this same question at the weekend, would be good to know

No, you can only have B & W number plates if your car is over a certain age, as in very old.

pre 1973

simple answer is, no. your only allowed them on old cars which had alloy plates, and most of those were black with silver letters/numbers, or black with white letters/numbers. by the looks of it they were used from 1931-1971, approx.

lol....tell that to the merc driver i saw yesterday....his car was @ 2 years old...had all numbers in black n silver front and rear...went nice with his black S class

i think all the laws surrounding reg plates are *****cks to be honest, what does it matter if you respace them as long as they read the same? probably because by putting such rules in place the robbing gits at the dvla can get more coin for their "cherished plates"

so that numberplate recognition software only has to be programmed for one font more like ;)

It makes me laugh we are one of the most watched countries in the world with all this CCTV and number plate recognition crap, yet 11 year old young children are shot through the head etc and none of this gets captured, makes you wonder what is the point?

sorry its off topic but all this prying on the motorist gets on my wick!

preying on the motorist more like - easy targets = easy revenue :mac1:

It's designed to catch Mr Middle Class in a Grey or Blue suit because he's the only one whp pays his fines, etc

The MOT checks on number plates are also being tightened up, additional checks are soon to be added to the test, so if youve got a plate on that is a bit dodgy as to size, fonts etc, you might find you will fail the test whereas last year it passed.

Fooking new rules and regulations, its never fooking ending in this shit hole c untry

I promptly turned the car around to show my ass and it wasnt til i was filling up that the penny dropped and i wondered how motorbikes fill up there :slap:

..... the bloke wasnt in the mood for my argument when i went to pay and i very nearly got thrown out
