trades plumbing,sparky,builder loadsa ££££££

engineering is shite money thats why im looking at changing too

I'm a plumber and earn a decent wedge.I'd give it up tomorrow for another job paying the same money as i hate the job, but at my age (36) i'm too old to retrain as i've got a big mortgage and can't afford "time out".The building trade is hard work you have to earn the money it's not like sitting on your arse in an office LOL.

I need something to go straight into as I have mortgage.

Part of wanting to leave the office is cause im getting too much work dumped on me and its p1ssing me off.

Found a few jobs around Southampton.

Trying to think of other things I could do besides engineering, and I gues those sites will pick those up from my CV??

Sell up and get off to Australia, they have a shortage of tradesmen and will fall overthemselves to give you a job.

Get into technical sales/consultation. Work for one of the companies who manufacture the tools you use.

The grass is always greener...

Most of it is sun burnt brown :D , but at least you get to drive your car in the sun more often

at 36 your too old to retrain? Most people dont start work until they are 20, and have to work until they are 70. Thats 50 years hard graft for joe bloggs. You have only done 16 of them! You can retrain no probs.

I recently employed someone who was 48 yrs old, but with only 3yrs of experience. In the interview he told me he retrained from a career as a trainer.

I understand your worries about paying the mortgage, but if you really want a different career, you'll make it work somehow. You just need to work out what you really want to do, then go for it.

What ever you decide, I wish you all the best matey :hyper:

Jeez if your fooked at 36, I might as well end it all now.

Oh no, I woork for myself and tell other people what to do, thats right. Phew thank fook for that.
