friday
Got a new toy to play with :D Picked up my '86 Land Rover Defender 90 yesterday from a nice chap just down the road from me who's part or the owners club. Ex MOD, the chassis and bulkhead are rust free and she's had a lot of work done. The previous owner whipped out the tired old NA diesel engine and replaced it with a newer 2.5l Tdi version with a completely new crate block and internals. She's had an all new rear diff, bushes, DNB clutch, thrust bearings, steering box, shocks, springs and exhaust, brand new wheels and tyres and a replacement turbo that's only done 2,300 miles. Suffice to say, I'm well chuffed! Got a slight oil leak (which seems to be the norm, lol!) which I need to locate but apart from that, fingers crossed, everything seems to be spot on. I know it's not fast (and not everybody's cup of tea ;)) but I've wanted one of these for years so I'm pleased as punch to finally own one. Now all I need to do is resist the urge to put a V8 in it...! :D ;) Leigh.
Apollo 32
Very nice. I've had a couple landies before, a series 3 and a V8 Hybrid. Absolutly loved them. Looking for another at the moment similar to what you have bought!! I'm all up for the Bio diesel thing and want one as a daily driver. Will be well suited to our snowy winter! Just curios how the diesels are to drive, are they as noisey and as slow as I'm expecting? These were my two

Well, have yet to take her on a good stretch of road or up the motorway so will report back with my findings...though I'm not holding out for much! They are quite noisy but then that's not something that bothers me that much...saying that, I am going to soundproof the interior! ;)
