i know sx owners are sometimes after our calipers for big break conversions but do they also want the rear calipers? i wouldnt have thought so as rear breaks arent that important.

Yes..in fact the rears are more sought after than the fronts ! SX owners find that upgrading the fronts affects the brake balance quite badly. They are also after the Z32 Brake master cylinder.

S13 owners need Calipers, discs and Pads

S14 owners need Calipers, Discs, pads and the backplate with handbrake mechanism

thanks legrath! do you mean they (both s13 and s14 owners) require both the fronts and rears AND the BMC to do an effective big break conv? what is the backplate and is it essential for the s14 owners?

the zeds come with 2 types of calipers alloy and cast i think which ones are the best as i will have a set of each and will be selling the spare

Yes, although quite often they sell seperatly when I have sold them before.

£70 for BMC

£100 for Fronts

£100 for Rears

- or £120 for rears if selling to S14 owners who require the backplate

The backplate is required as the S14 has the handbrake mechanism built into the stock calipers, whereas S13 and Z32 have drums for the handbrake.

Early alloy calipers are lighter, later Iron calipers have better heat dissapation.

when was the change to the newer iron calipers? is there a big difference in performance? are sx owners only after one type?

going back to this backplate thing for the s14. is it already attached to z32 rear calipers but redundent?

No difference in actual stopping power, the later Iron style are less likely to cause disc warpage...and potentially better resistent to brake fade....but the lower weight of the earlier Alloy calipers is also an advantage.

They changed in 1993...or late 92....will have to check

Its part of the rear hub on the z32.

S13 does'nt need it, as it already has the same design handbrake setup. S14 needs it as when you fit Z32 calipers they lose the handbrake so have to fit the Z32 handbrake mechanism.
