Boost problem

Went to Great yarmouth over the weekend. Got to Norwich (about 100 miles) and all of a sudden I had no boost. The stock gauge was going up but had no acceleration. Then all of a sudden the boost would come back.

Have just driven back and haven't had a problem.

Any ideas as to what this could be?

o2 sensors....

Mine does this at random, but only when cruising as in when holding a constant speed.

Under swift acceleration it isnt affected, since it ignores the 02 sensor readings (apparantly)

My right hand one is intermitantly inactive, can do it anytime cold, hot engine, wet or dry etc etc...

Check the ecu for error codes

OK

been over to AndyP's an had a conzolt done.

No codes. The only thing was the right O2 sensor seems to not be working.

Could this be an intermitent boost leak. Perhaps one of the dump valves not working properly.

Have just done the 70 miles or so over to andys and back with no problems.

mine does the same... it will just get worse. Mine is now at the point where its frustrating to drive, and in some ways a bit dangerous.. was in traffic the other day and it just pretty much refused to move so you jam your foot down a bit more suddenly right hand o2 sensor wakes up and BAM your of at the speed of light!

So i need to get it done, but the wether is crap, im a bit skint and i need to find a sensor.. lol

Andy seemed to think the boost problem is nothing to do with the O2 sensor. That is more likely to creat a problem with emissions at the MOT.

And yes I have to agree that it gets a scary as you say. Give it a boot nothing happens and then all of a sudden you can see what the car in front has got in the boot.

its not lack of boost though... its lack of fuel being burnt to produce any power... Thats what it feels like to me...

in mine it feels like youve just let of the throttle, it all goes quiet no exhaust note. But when you depress the accelerator some more suddently the sensor registers and recalclates the correct fueling and its of again, running on the correct fuel mixture and producing power, ergo exhaust ergo spinning the turbos and creating forced induction and we have boost...

Thats how i understand it anyway!

Its a possability. Will get onto the O2 sensor anyway. Judging by the readings it may just be the connector has come loose. Hopefully.
