ahh, looks like ive been talking to the wrong people again, i brought my plenum and then got a phone call saying they had sent an auto one and needed to change it, listen to the guys above rather than what a chancer told me, good luck

replace the following

water hoses/plenum bypass(recomended)

pcv valves and hoses(recomended)

intake gasket(defo)

clean all sensors/replace any hoses that look suspect to splitting

greg

Call Mike at MJP for the gasket, i ordered mine on a Thursday afternoon and it arrived on the Friday morning.

I've emailed Dan at DTA for prices of silicone tubing so will let you know.

And the two metal E.G.R pipe to Plenum gaskets, not too crucial but might as well do the job properly while your at it

I guess your going for the EGR by pass? Have you de-catted? as the EGR works by putting some of the hot exhaust gasses back into the engine for a second burn, without it it can make the cats get a bit hotter. Anyway as regards the pipes to the plenum you can make a couple of plates up and bolt the plates back up over the holes. At least removing the EGR will be something less to go wrong which can cause rough idle or stalling if it gets stuck on at idle when it should be off, and vise versa can cause power loss during accelaration if its stuck in the off position when it should be on.

best way is to chop the EGR feeds off weld ujp the ends and refit back in to plenum, although its a bit awkward removing all the pipework with the engine in

you can just block the vacum hose to the EGR this will keep it closed therfor making it inoperative. EGR removed in other words

Guys

The car has SS Straight-through (decatted) exhaust

I will do the EGR bypass as well. :p (Steve need to get a welder mate!!)

Just a though re setting the car up.... When the new plenum is fitted,

Will (in theory) the car simply fire up.. will I neet to adjust the throttle linkaege?? This plenum was on another car previous to mine..

regards

no need to set anything the car should just fire up, the only thing that might need a little tweeking is the throttle cable and cruise control adjustement on the accelorater drum depending how much you slacked them off by in the first place, the drum itself is spring loaded so will go back in the closed position as soon as the cables are taken off it
