I have just finished reading these great books and am looking for another good read.

Can anyone recomend something similar without mentioning Hogwarts?

David eddings - The belgariad series, then the mallorean

10 books in all, IMO the best fantasy series ever written

;)

that good i have read and reread and reread and reread the whole series loads of times

Julian May - "The saga of the exiles" is good scifi fantasy lost count of the amount of times Ive read these

Stephen Donaldson - "Thomas Covenant Chronicles" and "the 2nd Chronicles of Thomas Covenant " is good but quite deep

Andy McNab is good.

A Briefer History of Time. Stephen Hawkins. Its the up grade of A Brief History of Time. I have it on Audio Book 4 x CD and found it absolutely gripping. Read by Erik Davies NOT! Stephen Hawkins.

Long time since I read those books or any of this kind of stuff. You should try some Eric Vanlisterbaden. Very similar where as David Eddings Belgariad is aimed more at a younger generation. My 10 year old son has read all the 3 David Eddings series.

Proberbly the best of that type of stuff is Stephen Donaldson "Thomas Covenant series "Lord Fouls Bain" etc. Fantasy for grown ups. then there's loads of stuff by Michael Moorcock

God I have heaps of this slush at home. Now my kids read it.

I tend to read Historical Fact, Autobiography's or Thrillers these days

your all talking tripe

whilst good books all of them there is only one real contender on the fantasy side and thats raymond e fiest, read magician and then the rest of the riftwar series and then carry on.

Janny wurts might interest you with the stormwarden book and the mistwraith series, if you want heroic fantasy then you CANT beat david gemmel

Lol - I never read Bravo Two Zero at all. I was just winding you up.

Try 'The Moors last sigh' by Salman Rushdie and forget all this wizards and pixies nonsense.
