How nice??????? Christ, it's great! I feel relatively refreshed, although pretty plastered. My house does not stink of stale tobacco and it's a much nicer atmosphere out. Still busy and still a good night.

Actually, the bogs at Edward's tonight actually smelt of air freshner. It was quite a shock!

Fine, but not all pubs allowed smoking inside anyway. There's just no need to ban it in all pubs. :nono:

As long as there are places for people who don't smoke (like me) and/or want a smoke-free environment to go, why is it necessary to stop other adults doing what they want?

Yeah, all the chimneys can smoke outside! LOL which is what they were doing tonight. Had to laugh.

Well, when all the lefties decide to turn their attention to banning old, "polluting" cars or fast cars, I'm sure you'll be happy. After all, they know what's best for everyone else... :mac1:

It'll happen one day I'm sure. But my Z will only be worth about 50 pence, so don't care. I'll be into bungey jumping and taking trips to Mars or the Moon anyway.

Incorrect, please try again[/Texas' Instruments "Speak and Spell"]

It's just an entirely selfish attitude, frankly. I agree that there should have been more smoke-free pubs/clubs, and some sort of licensing system could have sorted that, but was it really necessary to ban it completely?

This guy has the right idea... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/6246006.stm ;)

Maybe. I dunno...personally I don't care, but for a purely selfish attitude, yeah, it's nicer for me!

Personally not, BUT...if it was tendered out to licence...all pubs would have carried it through and got one...then, no one would be any better/worse off. I guess it was an all or nothing type policy.

But from an outsiders point of view....I heard quite a few people saying how nice it was that there was no smoking....so, I dunno. I think that it's a 50/50 split from a broad spectrum of people. It's an old fashioned addiction, much like drinking is I guess. Times need to move on...in much the same way that the internal combustion engine will become exctinct within the next few decades.

Can't stay in the dark ages forever I guess.

I don't actually have the foggiest what you're on about and I don't care...but after nearly a litre of vodka since 6pm tonight I am suprised I am still awake!

Not really, as they would only give out a certain number/percentage of licences per town.

True, but just because those people are enjoying the smoke-free atmosphere in one pub, doesn't mean that others can't be enjoying a smokey atmosphere in the pub down the road...
