I must be going mad in my old age....

Had some Master come round earlier and I've decided to take up Karate!

Go Kan Ryu - or GKR, is a style of Karate mixing features of Shotokan and Goju Ryu together into one style. The name roughly translates to "The Hard and Complete System of the Way of the Empty Hand".

So excited but scared at the same time...... anyone do any martial arts on here?

It depends on what style of Kickboxing to be honest. I always did competitions through the full contact route where anything goes! Including knees, elbows, shins etc. We also taught strangle holds, neck breaks and many weapon defenses. So quite a broad style.

In comparison I found the semi contact or point scoring competitions were more difficult, as you have to show control and only strike where permitted.

Still, it was all good fun and when I eventually have some little ones, it'll be the first thing they learn after walking :D

Miyagi say Karate in head and heart, never in belt.

Paul C has got to be a 3rd / 4th dan by now. Not sure if the recent love in his life has had an impact on his training though :).

4th Dan in Shotokan :)

not trained much in the last 6 months or so, more where I have moved now - need to find a local club!

have done many styles over the years, been training for about 23 years now!

always happy to provide info if you need any :)
