Guest 300zx_girl
yep easily done... I do that with all my video footage. :D Had to buy a firewire port for the pc though .... then just install software and away you go... All my video's are on DVD - much better :)
viniboy
PC World about £20. they only work at real time though. which I spose is obvious when you think about it.
BIGSSS
I used to use SONIC its quite straight forward from what i can remember you just click on the source you want to tranfer the files from (camcorder) it then extracts the video from the camcorder and stores it on the HD then prompts you to burn to DVD/CD. This is for a digital camcorder though not sure about others.
SMW1
I use Pinnacle Studio to do my capture editing. Just need a firewire cable (hopefully you camcorder will have one of these). It will be firewire --> USB cable. Plug it in, install any software or just use windows movie maker, which should be free with windows XP and above. Click the capture button on the pc with your Camcorder on (in video playack mode). The PC will send the signal to your camcorder to play and then record everthing it plays to a file. Once the capture is done you can then either edit your video, cutting the bits out you don't want, add some effects, put some titles in or even go a little more advance and create a dvd title screen so you can burn various movies onto one dvd and just put them under different titles on the first page. If you don't have a dvd recorder on your pc you can simple burn them in mpeg or avi forat as most dvd players these days will be able to play these types of file. petey099
Do you get better quality with firewire? I just managed to copy a video off my camcorder with just a normal USB cable with windows movie maker but even selecting the high quality tab the video still looks grainy on the comp with a res of 640x480 30FPS obviously thats quite low but seems to be the highest setting on moviemaker ? Guest 300zx_girl
Firewire = (PC and digital audio/digital video) serial bus interface standard, offering high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data services. IEEE 1394 (Firewire) has been adopted as the High Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) standard connection interface for A/V (audio/visual) component communication and control.... Definatly better quality

Pinnacle Studio is pretty easy to use. trust me I'm a dumb dumb when it comes to things like this... if you want a copy of the software thing - drop me a pm and I'll do you a disc.
