Ive only ever had kidneys in steak and kidney pies and stuff like that and they taste really nice.

 

The other day i had a mixed grill which came with 2 kidneys, they looked pretty wierd as they were whole but i had a nibble and they were ok.

 

Then for some stupid reason i decided to give them a sniff, omg, im never eating them again, they smell horrible, like a urinal. I know that the kidney does something with the wee in your body, but surely its not meant to smell like that when there cooked? Has anyone else noticed this?

 

Also what animal does the kidney come from?

if you go down to your local butcher Not the supermarket you should be able to order some no probs Or at the next mids meet we have let me know and i'll try fetch you a few for the freezer

Yeah, what do you think Kebab shanks are made of....I aint kidding, I had a mate that worked in a slaughter house, and he told me exactly what went into em. Never had a kebab since. :hurl:

I used to eat kidneys before I gave up meat completely but you're right they smell horride.

 

Even used to enjoy a chicken liver omelette but wonder now how I ever managed to eat any of that stuff. :( :(

Was a butcher for 17 years, we used to do the meat for

the Maktoums the rulers of Dubai. One day they decided

to have a party and wanted some sheep brains but it was

too late to get any from Smithfield so we went to our

local abbatoir and got some sheep heads and spent ages

chopping the top of the skulls off and taking the brains out.
