1st July after the Dyno day !!

The drive from St Ives to Lands End got put into a 'worlds best roads' feature on MSN recently :

http://cars.uk.msn.com/guides/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5091363

I'm on leave for the second two weeks of June and will be heading down to see family. Is there anyone down there who fancies meeting up?

We could meet in St Ives or Hayle and drive the road? Perhaps end in Sennen at the cafe on the beach if its open (big car park). Looking at Saturday the 30th June so that more people can get down.

EDIT - I thought a good route would be to go St Ives - Lands End/Sennen - Penzance. The St Ives to Lands end bit gets narrow and twisty but is very beautiful. The road back to Penzance is a bit faster and not quite so demanding, but still challenging and twisty. Best time seems to be the last week in June 24th to 30th, a quiet evening preferably. The only problem I can forsee is getting stuck behind a granny on the St Ives to Lands End part as there arn't many safe overtaking parts. Its a stunning area though so if this happens we could just pull over in one of the many car parks, enjoy the view and have a flask of tea :D

You wont have any problems with the flooding. The Indian Queens area is usually a nightmare with traffic if you hit it during the day.

Indian Queens area now clear as they have completed the bypass. Stage coach could be replaced and it looks likely that the highwaymen will have to go elsewhere for their dosh. If you go through Camborne, don't stop - that is bandit country!

Thanks Shelton, not that bad!

weather is a bit pot luck at the mo. tho!

Any ideas on a time frame yet.

I'm easy. I think the problem will be with those who are attending the dyno day in Plymouth. Personally, I wouldn't want to leave it much past 1800.

To accomodate those that do the dyno day why don't all meet in the Macdonalds car park in Hayle, the one next to brewers fare??? (Biggest car park to meet up in down there) If we all aim to get there between 7 and 7.30 that would give us enough time to drive to Lands End and do the run to St Ives...

P.S hope someone knows which roads to take to st ives once we get to lands end!!

just a point regarding meeting at Mcdonalds the petrol station next to it is the only station I found in cornwall that stocks super unleaded

Yeah, It sells yummy V-Power too!!! Good for us to fill up just before the run too... There are also V-Power stations at Truro and SummerCourt so plenty around!!

I thought we were going from St.Ives to Lands End then Penzance!?

St. Ives is close to Hayle to start run at hellesveor on B3306.

down to Lands End ( closed by then ) car park open, via St.Just ( pub ) then A30 to Penzance, along Sea Front (Fish and Chips by tha sea or Whelks!! )

Don't mind which way around we do this Ray but yeah, your route does sound like a more plausable option and would make sense ending up back in Penzance but i'll go with whatever the majority wants to do! Def be on for Fish and Chips!

Ok , It can be flexible, go with the flow.

But if we end up at the St.Ives end there is not much Parking? just a thought.

In fact there is Fookall room for a Z to drive around there full stop!! Yeah, totally with you on this one, we should drive through St Ives and end up at Lands end, do it the other way around!!

Sounds like a good idea meeting in the McDonalds at Hayle. I don't think we should touch St Ives at all. You don't need to go through St Ives , you just drive towards it and then turn off onto the coast road. We can head down towards Sennen/Lands End area and stop for a chinwag and then head back towards Penzance for some food. The pub at Lands End is an option for food if anyone is interested? There are plenty of places in Penzance though.

Sounds good to me dude, think i'll go with your idea if everyones cool with it then we can either do food at the pub in Lands End or Menzpants afterwards. If we all say 6.30 to 7Pm meeting at the McDonalds car park in Hayle then and then if anyone a fill up on V-Power the garage is right next to it...

I live round corner from the mcdonalds so will show me face if possible.

6.30 at McDonalds then. Will see you all there. Managed to drive down yesterday, only took 5 1/2 hours. Would have been quicker but people kept crashing and causing delays.

Only saw 1 other ZX going the other way on the M5.

Couldn't agree more John. Thought this was going to be a bit of a disaster at first - especially as it was peeing down when I set off. In the end the weather cleared and it was a good turn out and a great idea for the road run (nice one Royal). Nearly got caught out on the way back as I tore past (with the clutch slipping nicely) Ray and Mickeybigzed only to realise that they were going slow for a reason - big cop car in front! At least the brakes work well! We need more runs like this. All us Zeds following that yellow Skoda round the back lanes of Conrwall was good fun.
