1st July after the Dyno day !!

The drive from St Ives to Lands End got put into a 'worlds best roads' feature on MSN recently :

http://cars.uk.msn.com/guides/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5091363

I'm on leave for the second two weeks of June and will be heading down to see family. Is there anyone down there who fancies meeting up?

We could meet in St Ives or Hayle and drive the road? Perhaps end in Sennen at the cafe on the beach if its open (big car park). Looking at Saturday the 30th June so that more people can get down.

EDIT - I thought a good route would be to go St Ives - Lands End/Sennen - Penzance. The St Ives to Lands end bit gets narrow and twisty but is very beautiful. The road back to Penzance is a bit faster and not quite so demanding, but still challenging and twisty. Best time seems to be the last week in June 24th to 30th, a quiet evening preferably. The only problem I can forsee is getting stuck behind a granny on the St Ives to Lands End part as there arn't many safe overtaking parts. Its a stunning area though so if this happens we could just pull over in one of the many car parks, enjoy the view and have a flask of tea :D

Is this still on for the 30th?

Would like to come but it is a 300 mile drive that takes around 41/2 to 5 hrs. For this reason I would need to book a hotel in the area.

Might even check out Jamie Olivers restraunt on the way home.

This is all getting very confusing so I will just say that if its a Friday evening, a Saturday or Sunday I should be able to make it. My brother (mickeybigzed) will only be able to make a friday evening or Sunday (not a Saturday). Royal, I think your best bet is to set a day that suits you and if people can make it then all well and good. Nothing against the dyno day, but personally I would prefer to do a bit of karting or something - I also doubt it would appeal to those with non-turbos. Hanging around for a couple of hours while people rev the *****cks out of there Zeds is just not my scene I'm afraid. No, I'm not a miserable ******* - I will be the first at the gate for the Portreath RWYB (when the date is announced).

I think we need to just get this arranged otherwise we will end up with nothing down here - again!!!!!

Sorry Guys, but I will have to pull out of this one, :( got a Stag Do to attend on the 29th :duffer:

hope you have a great drive - i did a similar drive, but unfortunately in only a hired 1.2 Civic. Sennen Cove is a gorgeous place  we stumbled on the track that goes down to it after visiting Lands End.

What does everyone think to SUnday Evening the 1st of July??? That would seem cool to suit most peeps it seems...

Sunday 1st July evening after the Dyno Day would be perfect

Sorry this is getting confusing. The 1st after the Dyno day looks the best day for most people? I've had a couple of PMs from confused peeps who need to book hotels. Has anyone got any problems with the 1st?

Have booked the hotel for the saturday and sunday night. Thought I needed a break anyway.

Will hopefully see you all at some stage.

So whats happening then ???!!!

It going to be early evening meeting up on Sunday the 1st of July for the Land's End Run...

A good meeting place would be fox and hounds at scorrier again and we'll then all drive and convoy over with to meet up with Ray, Royal, Retro620ti, Dannyzx and any others that live along the way... Looking forward to this, it's gonna be a cool night! :duffer:

Sounds good. Me and Mickeybigzed will see you there.

Am a bit concerned about the weather. Have booked hotel and a day off to have a short break but am I going to make it all the way down there because of the flooding.

What will the best route be from the Luton area?

Any advice welcome as I can probably still cancel the hotel.

You wont have any problems with the flooding. The Indian Queens area is usually a nightmare with traffic if you hit it during the day. I had a good blast down last week :) Weather seems to have cleared up a bit but not sure of the forecast at the mo. I'll have fun if its raining as I'm on semi-slicks !

The only routes down really are M4,M5,A30 or A303 turning onto M5 around the Taunton area and then down onto the A30. Don't go through the Plymouth route by the way, stay on the A30.

Cheers buddy. Will put that in the sat nav and see where we go. Multimap was trying to take me along the A30 for most of the route so think M4 M5 will be best.
