1st July after the Dyno day !!

The drive from St Ives to Lands End got put into a 'worlds best roads' feature on MSN recently :

http://cars.uk.msn.com/guides/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5091363

I'm on leave for the second two weeks of June and will be heading down to see family. Is there anyone down there who fancies meeting up?

We could meet in St Ives or Hayle and drive the road? Perhaps end in Sennen at the cafe on the beach if its open (big car park). Looking at Saturday the 30th June so that more people can get down.

EDIT - I thought a good route would be to go St Ives - Lands End/Sennen - Penzance. The St Ives to Lands end bit gets narrow and twisty but is very beautiful. The road back to Penzance is a bit faster and not quite so demanding, but still challenging and twisty. Best time seems to be the last week in June 24th to 30th, a quiet evening preferably. The only problem I can forsee is getting stuck behind a granny on the St Ives to Lands End part as there arn't many safe overtaking parts. Its a stunning area though so if this happens we could just pull over in one of the many car parks, enjoy the view and have a flask of tea :D

Ok mate. Looking at sometime between the 16th and 30th of this month depending on when I can get down and who's around.

Might be interested if this takes place towards the end of the month as we will be in Le mans on the 15th for a few days and will need to save some money for petrol when we get back if we attend this

Ok, thats better for me as well because I'd deffo be there all week. Anyone got any preferential days? I just want to get the road as quiet as possible as there arn't many safe overtaking spots on the St Ives to Lands End part. Its a stunning area so we could just stop and take in the view at any point; there are loads of car parks on all the vantage points. I've edited the initial post, added in a route back via Penzance as the road is a bit faster and less demanding but still a great drive through the twisties.

I did this on saturday evening as it was a nice day - not much traffic, but you are so busy twiddling the steering wheel you cant see the view, which are quite stunning, and as you say very narrow in parts. best not to get too close to car in front as there are some monster tight turns. Fun though, turned od off to keep it on the boil. nice pubs in St Just? good place to stop for refreshments.

would make for wicked convoy.

See you all on the day, whenever that is?

Thats sounds promising Ray. Need to find a place to stop that has a bit of space in the car park.

I'd love to do this but if it's midweek i don't think i'll be able to make it.

Sounds like it's going to be ace though, i know those roads like the back of my hand :D

Maybe we should do it at the weekend 29th, 30th June?? I was thinking a weekday to avoid traffic but it is right out of the way so shouldn't be a problem. Whats the best day for everyone? It'd be good to make a good size meet out of it.

IMHO, a mid week meet is less likely to attract a good attendance, a weekend meet would be preferable, i am hoping to be down for the weekend 30th june

Ok, shall we go for the Saturday the 30th then? I've adjusted the first post. Can you post if you will deffo be coming, and also if you think you would want food, as myself or someone else will need to do some organising to make sure we get big enough car parks, and food etc is available. Ray suggested St Just, plus there's various other places on the route. A BBQ maybe?? If that sounds like a good idea let me know and I'll make some enquiries, may need to pay a few quid in advance. If we could find a good spot we could do a BBQ ourselves and I could sort the bits out. I'm sure I could manage ten or twenty burgers, chicken, veggie whatevers, without any problems and maybe get a quid or two off of each person on the day. I'll do a route check the week before and find some good spots, unless anyone already down there wants to take a look.

I've not got many options as I'm coming down from Kent to see the family for the week. I can't do the weekend before so for me to do it, it needs to be that weekend or a weekday in the week before. So long as I don't have family commitments I'll be at the dyno day, just can't 100% guarantee. Maybe a few of us could do a convoy up? what do you think Jon??

Ah, balls can't do the dyno day as working that day but can do any evening for our Land's End Run.. Think my subscription has just run out as I can't edit my posts!
