Working in and training other people in the childcare field I have to be trained in child protection procedures and what classes as abuse.

If a nursery practitioner had left a child in their care unattended for a shorter time than the McCanns did they would be held on a case of neglect towards that child. In my eyes this is what the McCanns did....neglected their child, fair enough I bet they are going through hell and are distraught but how many of you who have children would leave your child in an apartment whether it be abroad or not to go and have a meal.

Some social services workers are utter crap but others are really good at their job.

Victoria Climbie was the African girl who was abused by her Auntie and Uncle until she died. Her mother had sent her over to have a better life in England. Social services, the police and NHS all had information that showed she was being abused but because they didn't share what they knew with each other they did nothing to prevent her death. They visited her at home several times over approximately 10 months before she died.

The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) has been introduced alongside the 'Every Child Matters' framework to prevent such events occurring again. They basically state that all persons or organisations working with children and young people MUST share what they know with each other in order that any information that could show a possible abuse happening are passed onto a lead individual who has responsibility to do something....if they don't blame can fall to them

in regard to the little girl..

i personally think she is dead..i hope not but i cant ever see her parents ever seeing her again other than a corpse :(

I read somewhere today that they were playing it down when they said that the lead turned out to be nothng and they are still desperately trying to contact the caller to see if they do know where she is....
