also, is it best to get current turbos reconditioned or buy new turbos? sorry about all the questions.

if you can get new i guess.

Thats about right price for stock.

if you get some from JWT like sport 600s i think they wont be to much more than that to be honest.

The JWT sport 500 and 550 i think they dont make anymore as they are making roller bearing units now.

New not recon! And shop around for them. Mike Feeney at www.MJPAutos.com for JWT Turbos and others,

Graham Goode Racing in Leicester for HKS. or www.grasshopperprosport.co.uk.

Why do you want stock?

if ya gonna spend some money on turbos at least go for the ones with 360 deg bearings

garret t25 (stock)

garret t28(bearings)+£100

or for a bit more ..hybrids

Jay,

thats exactly what i have done, smithy contacted me and i am getting the 360 degree, stage 1 hybrids. cheaper than going to nissan for stocks.

steve

Don't recon what ever you do. They'll charge you £500 per turbo. Buy new or if your on a budget then you could always but some second hand ones off me for £120 each :-)

So long as you understand that this is not a performance upgrade.

You gain nothing in the way of more horsepower from this.

Probably a good safe bet though,as fitting big turbos can lead to engine rebuild, after rebuild, after rebuild wink.gif.

how can they not be an upgrade when they can run upto 19-20psi? i can run stocks at 14psi, but thats giving them a hard time i gather, prefer to buy these stage 1's which will run at 15psi quite comfortably (so i have been told). any better suggestions are wellcome, as i was going to order tomorrow.

cheers

Steve

My advice for what it's worth...engine out? bigger turbos, or at least hybrids! IMHO biggrin.gif

Did I do it? NO! Why? Coz I wanted a car that would run right in the first place! Without adding complications into the equation! FACT! wink.gif

Because anything over 16-17 psi on a Stock Turbo starts to generate more heat than power, so you have the revease effect.

The bearing is simply a reliablity issue.

300so what is recommended then? cos i dont want to change the internals of the engine. i wsw going to add the jwt chip and get a digital boost control and run the turbos at 15psi, i was advised to get the stage 1 turbos? sorry about this. again advise more than welcome, and even better, any other alternatives.

cheers

Steve

hhmmmmmm....seems like some people are wind up merchants, hybrids now ordered.

I mailed you on this bud cheers.

im not trying to say stock turbos with 360 thrust bearigns are bad at all, im just saying dont expect any more power from them.

you wont have to change your engine internals up to at least 550 horsepower.

it all depends on A: how much money your willing to spend on turbos and B: how much ultimate power do you want.

the whole thing is if your pulling your engine and you put stock blowers back on then go in a car with bigger blowers, youll honestly be dissapointed that you never went for something with more thrust.

if i were you i would go for a nice reputable dealer in America like JWT (as you can deal with them direct and not through an agent) and get something like sport 550s or sport 600s (now you wont get this type of power just because the turbo says those numbers, as you would need to do other things like injectors ect to get the full potential, but youll have a much stronger pulling car and the turbos bolt straight on no realy adgustments needed.

If you have more money ie around 3k then go for pentroof pe 1420 turbos, they are fantastic blowers and will pull very well.

They are good for around 550 on the wheels at 1.3 bar.

Another very good setup to go for is the Garret gt25 turbos you can purchase in Austrailia, they are fantastic and cost around 1500 pounds for a set.

if you requirew more info i can dig up some links for you. cheers.

hello m8,

ive got the uprated stage 1's on mine(360 deg)

,at the time i knew even less about my car than i do now, wish i'd put the jwt's in now.

what i got told was in upping bits and bobs on ya car you sacrifice reliability which is why i went for the turbo's i have now.

at the time i thought personally the cars go fast enough, especially when chipped, aftermarket exhaust, induction and controller or jets.

but now i wish id gone for jwt 600,bigger injectors and bigger inter coolers, oil coolers,

i no ya talkin an extra couple of grand but if ya can afford the engine work then ya might as well go the whole hog.trust me i'm not happy with my power now, suppose im getting greedy with 400 bhp.

good luck what ever ya do.jay
