For those of you with cars at the Zen Garage, can anyone let me know if you have heard from Martyn, has he changed his number.

My car was supposed to be ready last week, but I haven't been able to get in touch with him. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck.

Can those of you that have his number chuck me a pm, just in case I'm phoning the wrong number or something.

Thanks

Thanks for the info mate, Getting a little stressed as it's just been going on and on, oringinal quote was 3 months, then was told that I will definately have it back by August (2006) then it dragged on and was then told March (2007) then Arpil then first week in May, then not heard anything or no calls have been returned for a while now.

Makes me feel a little better knowing that my car has been with Zen garage since Feb 2006 but thee is progress, the end is nigh hopefully.

what are you having done?

Not wanting to have a personal dig at Martyn, as I've never even met the guy (and there's more than just him) but TBH, any garage that takes 15 months to repair your car is taking the piss. He seriously needs to attend a course on Time Management. There's no way I would let a garage have my car that long. Surely we wouldn't allow a main dealer to have a car for any longer than 2 months, at the outside and yet we think anything from 6 - 12 months is OK for these specialist garages.

Sorry, but I think it's simply not on.

All IMHO of course.

Well I took the engine out myself with help form a few guys on the forum, stripped it down myself, had it rebored to fit the new pistons. Balanced and blueprinted.

The engine went to Zen Garage in bits to be put back together, so it was a basic engine rebuild with new Weisco pistons, new GD manifolds, new GD down pipes and flexi pipes, nismo 555cc injectors, jtw530bb turbo's. All pretty much bolt on bits along with HKS actuators.

The car then went there for the engine bay to be put back together and the engine dropped back in.

I know Martyn had far too much work on to meet estimates and has also had some personal problems so I'm not bothered too much about how long it has taken, just a little worried that no one had heard form him recently.

Steve, I understand your point, but I know there have been some difficulties that could not be helped.

He has been very over worked and had other problems all out of his control. I can imagine that a one man garage will be quite time consuming and especially as I know Martyn will do every job 100%, so it's kinda understandable for me.

I'd rather not turn this into a sl4gging off thread. I simply just wanted to hear form anyone who had heard from Martyn.

Fair do's mate. Like I said, I wasn't meaning to slag anyone off (although after reading my post again, I can see how it reads), just amazed members are prepared to wait that long.

Well I have done business with the guy, and I've found him to be just about the most professional mechanic I've ever met, I'd use him for any major work that I don't fancy doing myself. If any delays occur I severely doubt its because of something in his control.

Obviously I don't know the details of your involvement with him, but I've watched him work and know he never dithers about.

(Btw. if you're having trouble contacting him keep trying his mobile and leave a message- its not always on but you can get through in the end)

I have dealt with Martyn on many occasions and have found that he always goes out of his way to accomodate me. I know he has had a lot of work on - quite a bit of it seems to be clearing up other's mistakes. I also know he has had problems in getting some parts. I would agree with what Coldeyes said about delays are more than likely being out of his control.

Just thinking it might be worth taking time off work and assisting him with your rebuild. I once did this with a 280ZX which was taking a very long time to finish. The owner reduced the final price significantly and really pulled out the stops to get the work done more quickly. I think it helps if you make a few appearances if nothing else. Just a thought and I hope you get it back soon ;) .

i know of Martyn thru guys when i used to race the single seater circuits , very nice bloke n very honest . im sure there will be some top notch work coming from him.. i feel sorry for the bloke doing it all on his todd

Martyn has had personal issues as said before and also working on his own doesint help especially with so many customers wanting there cars done but in my experience i can honestly say that he is probably one of the greats when it comes to making sure that the job is done right....iv got nothing but gratitude for the guy as he has gone out of his way on many occasions for me and im sure when Stu's car is done he'l be grinning from ear to ear
