help!!! just got my new zx home from the salvage yard

the body is A! but some plank took the plug leads plugs and balance bar off,

it will turn over with a socket on the bottom pully but if you try to use the starter it fails to turn at all. the reason for it being in the salvage yard was that it had stalled after driving into a large puddle and indurance company would not pay for investigation into engine prob, I know I will have to rebuild the engine but can anyone point me in the right direction as to why it will not turn over. I am used to japars as I have 2 more on the drive and have the expertise to rebuilt this car but just need to know I'm not missing something obvious

have you tested the starter off the car, with it bein electrical it may have shorted also test wether the starter is getting a feed to it hope this helps m8
