Went to westec in Newport on sunday to get my car rolling roaded..

just about to go in and they guy says oh its an auto dont know if we can do it!!

after a bit of conflab with the boss of the place he says we will try it..(gulp!)

explains that to get an accurate graph he needs to accelerate from 4th gear? now obviously in an auto this is not easy so first time he trys it full boost comes on and she trys to climb out of the rollers at about 160mph!! guy says "we had a new ferrari in here last week and it didnt do that your torque figure must be through the roof".. :D

second run he still can get it to stay in gear, the graph is all over the place so he just gives it some gas so i can see the screen.. graph smoothed out and peaked at 440bhp!! told him what mods i was running and he said "its easily that figure and could be a little more, i looked at the speedo and it was accelerating past 180mph!!!"

he is going to speak to dastek about doing a power run using the load sensors in the rr ???

anybody else had this problem with a modded auto?

was wondering if the same would apply were you to use a hub dyno?

still very happy with "approx" 440bhp plus the fact that it tried to get out of the rollers.. lol

any (postive) thoughts on the above? and no friggin smug arse comments like change to a manual please..

cheers

:D

I'm sure an auto should be done in 3rd - it's the nearest to a 1:1 drive ratio.

Mine was done on a Dastek years ago and it seems to work ok, although they were only interested in rwhp figures.

thats what i said to him but he couldnt hold it in 3rd??

Don't you just put it in D3 ?

Not having an auto Z I don't really know, but I do have an auto Rover :)

If its a jap import you put it in hold and take the overdrive off if I remember correctly. Its unlikey to change down then as theres no real load on the engine.

Well technically you don't have a 4th either !

The 4 speed automatic transmission is a lockup type. When in drive mode, gears change 1-2-3 then 3 lockup, giving the effect of 4 gears. When overdrive (4th) is switched in, the change goes 1-2-3-4 then 4 lockup, giving the effect of 5 forward gears. There is a communications link between the automatic transmission control computer and the engine management computer, and this amongst other things, allows the engine computer to retard ignition, thus momentarily reducing engine power, during auto gear changes. Auto gear changes therefore are very smooth. The automatic transmission fitted to the turbo model is stronger than the one installed in the non turbo. Although the gear ratios are almost identical, there are many minor differences between the two transmissions.

The Japanese automatic transmission has many more features than the export models. A "power", "normal" and "hold" switch is fitted to modify transmission shift points. The effect of the "power" setting is to delay upshifting, but does not alter the maximum RPM that change occurs. In order to change at the red line or rev limiter speed, one must operate the shifter manually. The hold setting allows holding prevents downshift into second when the shifter is set to "D", and prevents downshift into first when the shifter is in "2". Another curious feature with the Japanese version is that lock up is also available in second gear.

Yep needs to be been done in 3rd. They get it up to 3rd and then stick it in hold.

4th ratio is 1:0.694 so wont be accurate unfortunatly., whereas 3rd is 1.1

Manuals are done in 4th gear. (1:1)

you can get it RR properly Next week with SWZ :)

Well, there is a kickdown microswitch under the accelerator pedal, maybe that can be disconnected?

rolling road's for AUTO's is best done in 3rd gear IF it will holed in 3rd ......

if not then 2rd gear is the next best thing ...as you can holed the 2rd gear on a zed .....

wozza ....
