Morning!!

Noticed yesterday that my radiators were hot, thing is the central heating is switched off at the control unit. The hot water however was on so it looks like even though th CH is off, hot water is somehow getting pumped around the house. I'm thinking that the motorised valve/actuator is stuck, any ideas?

I'm thinking that the valve has 3 positions, hot water, central heating and both am i right? is there a plumber in the house?

Cheers.

Sounds like the motorised valve is stuck open, isolate it electrically, operate it a few times manually, spray some WD40 on the mechanism/return spring, this usually frees them .

thats a mid position valve the main problems with these are it siezes up and also the teeth start to slip so when it should be moving it slips and stays in the same position, you can test this trying to manually open it this will tell you if its slipping or sized. also make sure there is power going to it by listenig when it should open, you may have to change the motor head as they do go
