i was just nipping to the bank in my village. i saw a cop drive past the car while i was in the bank. but i was in the bank for so lon o thought he had gone. but no.......

just as i started the engine he pulled up beihind me the swine.

 

i tried to explain that i was on my way back from southampton to my house - which i thought you were allowed to do. well this numbnuts hadn;t even heard of an SVA test. so he called in the traffic cops. they turn up, and i have to spend another 20 minutes going through all my jap documents.

 

then they go and get the vehicle inspecorate guy to come and look at my. - he hadnt heard of an SVA test either ! WTF!

 

so then they the clever inspector guy says that one of my tailpipes is sooty and the other is not - "maybe it is blocked up with drugs sir"

 

so, here we bloody go, we had to drive to the police garage place, get my car on a ramp [included a few scratches on the bumper] and then they got a couple of mechanics to take the back of the exhaust system apart!!

 

and guess what........no surpises. and no drugs!! woooooo, what a shocker, turns out my ZEES exhaust system just has a real big silencer on one side that is bloke the exhaust fumes quite a lot.

 

so there goes 3 hours of my afternoon.

 

and ,er , i guess going to santa pod on sunday would be pushing my luck a little bit.

 

i still think you are allowed to drive it home though, and to an mot test - they said not [but then again the transport cop didnt know what an SVA or ESVA test was]

 

oh well, at least they didnt impound it or arrest my ass.

 

still i did cane the shit out of it, write in their faces, as i was leaving just to let them know who's the boss, . well, i spose they are, but, anyway, i enjoyed the little rip, and im sure they didnt enjoy hearing that HKS super blow off vavle shooting past.

 

right. thats me done moaning.im off to polish my car. so that i can then sit in it, and wait for registration, - which, i add i was about to go and sort out this afternoon if they hadnt been a bunch of jackassess.

 

.......and er, on my other post, i do think that all a 300ZX needs to make it look like the DADDY is a decent set of wheels.

 

although, i do prefer my new car to my black zx - but then again i do miss my ZX.

i had the same trouble not to that extent but my car got towed when i first got it over from japan, at 1am because they thought it was stolen and said theyd been after me for weeks which is bullshit. As far as im aware you are allowed to drive it back from picking it up, then they came and towed it when it was parked .See you got the kaze kitted gto, very nice. Did you buy the car as it is now or buy a standard 1 and get the kit fitted in japan before shipping over? i thought about doing that. you can get a TT 90/91 zed with 45,000 for £2000 so get a mad kit fitted then shipped.All kaze kits are the bollox and their new bumper is mmmmmmmmmmmm

yes it is kaze. only trouble is, that it has taken a knock, either on the boat or at the sva place, so the bumper now has a small crack in it. oh, and it was all on there when i got her.

 

anyway, i did get this booklet from the dvla fairly recently at this is exaclty what it says......

 

"After arrival the only circumstances in which you can drive the vehicle before completing these formalities are from port of entry to your home address/first destination, to and from pre-arranged SVA/MOT test and to and from a garage for remedial work following failure to pass the tests"

 

thats what the booklet says - nothing about having trade plates or anything.

OMG!! exactly same happened to me, when i picked it up the front bumper was cracked. had to pay 200quid to get it fixed at the paint shop, looks sweet now but was still pissed off. probably sholda claimed on the insurance but id already signed the form when i saw it. well u sound like youve done exactly same as me, i imported mine about 3 months ago and i got all the same info as you. Where did you find your car? i registered with a dealer for the ONAA auctions and bought from there, but i was really looking for a car like yours that was already fully kitted. Mine has a nice kit but its getting changed soon. i was actuallylooking for a skyline but the zed looked mint in the photo and the kit it had made it look yum, and im glad i went for the zed. i preferred the other kaze kit for the gto but it still looks great

Sorry Nico, both sides of the GTO MK1 pipes are plumbed in. They also have two electronically switched settings (on the standard pipes) of quiet and normal - quite a neat bit of expensive exhaust.

Yeah they might be plumed in but one pipe flows 90+ % of the exhuast.

 

If you dont believe me Ask Henri Le Hir - he has a Stealth as well as two Z's and believe me he knows his stuff.

With reference to the legality of driving your car from Port to your house or SVA place you also have to make sure you insure the car, most insurance companies will insure the car if you give them the Chassis number.

never knew that. This morning I was at the auction in Birmingham there was a red GTO going thru was smoking 10 times as much on the passenger side exhaust to the other side me and my dad thought something was knackered on it. turns out its normal lol. We were so close to bidding on it cos we both prefer em to the zed, but we resited, we knew my mother would have killed the both of us if we pulled up in a swanky red GTO

Sorry dude, the exhaust on a GTO is well sorted. The car has quiet and normal (loud) electronically switched from inside, as well as sports and touring switched suspension. It's not a jibe on a 300, just a different car.

How do we know?, got one on the drive as well as the 300.
