dunno if anyones interested

i had a spare couple of turbos from the Zed, so i knocked up a manifold and stuck them on the GTti, turns out from the compressor maps, its pretty much ideal. it should haul now :hyper:

lol i hope its got a thick head gasket on!

nope, ive been running it at 24psi for months now with a hybrid made from an isuzu trooper turbine wheel and a compressor housing turned out on the lathe. but after a sheared turbine shaft and several oil seal rebuilds id had enough and the standard VQ14 was miles out its efficiency map so the intake temps were up about 50deg. so i had to retard the ignition loads and enrich it to about 11.8 AFR to stop det so its holding back a LOT!! .still running OE head gasket, std comp ratio.comes with forged rods and pistons as std.

ive done bloody loads to this engine. this was just something i thot some would be interested in cos it was the 300zx turbos

might post more later if i get time tonight

Cool a mate has a 210bhp mk2 uno turbo running 24psi

its stripped, caged and rapid!

what kind of boost you thinking of running the z turbo at? 16-17psi? I think that's their max efficiency....

oh and do you rebuild the tubs yourself? if so do you bother getting them balanced? or just scribe a line on the nut, shaft and compressor so you can line it all up afterwards??

ye thats exactly what i do. folk get too anal about balancing turbos. IMO

;) Well I have bought 2 overhaul kits for my tubs, along with 2 step gap rings. I am a precision engineer by trade so i have no worries about working with intricate things ;) Thanks for the reassurance :)

Keep up the good work :)

im looking for an inlet cam pulley from a zed so i can make VVC for it if anyone has one lying about going cheap?

cheers, i had it running a few months ago but had piston issues :D (see my other vids)

it goes like crazy though, il get round to filming it on the road next time home.

im hoping for about 180-190 at the wheels which should crack the 200hp per litre mark :D

ive got a 50% uprated pressure plate and the bloody thing slips at 4500RPM which saves the tyres but it sucks not getting the power down :(

il do some mapping next time im home to tidy up the fuel map, then il take it to the dyno for a power run.

should be a good laugh!

this isnt the final downpipe, just one thrown together so could hear it go. il use this as a jig to make a better one later.

Just curious if your gonnna leave it like that or are you gonna dress it up chrome it out or whatnot?

no im going to make one out of mild steel and make it smarter, that was just a trial to see how well it was gonna work out.

i dont do shiney bits, i care that it IS fast not looks fast ;)

Spare turbo from a Zed? Make a jet engine with it ;)

This reminds me of the project me and my bro' are doing on his Micra. Currently running 201bhp at the fly. Trouble is there are no turbo micra's and everything we do we have to make/get made. Taking the engine out again on monday for block ringing and cams then it'll hopefully produce 250ish bhp on just 17psi but we reckon the engine should handle 30psi!!!!

good luck with the micra!

i have a simelar problem, in the sense that there are no aftermarket/tuning parts available.

im running OE gaskets no ringing, engine internals are stock ( OE forged pistons and rods ;) )

i was running 26psi on the std IHI RHB5 turbo but it was in surge all the time, the intake temps were over 54deg C! so it was woefuly inefficient and i had to richen it out to 11.5:1 and retard the ign to about 10deg under load.

now running about 35deg advance and intake temps are only a few degs above ambient.

im currently building a nova 1.2 with throttle bodies and mad internals and a serioulsy high comp ratio!

il put the throttle bodies on a 1600 GTE engine when ive got bored with the 1200. as the manifolds are pretty simelar.

will do Rob, ive just imported a paddle clutch from NewZeland as the uprated on currently in it slips like a bitch with the big turbo and IC running at 17psi. im trying to get hold of another decent turbo as that one is pretty goosed. i knew that when i installed it but now i know it works il get a better turbo. so il stick a new clutch on it, rebuild the LSD and take another vid. il also take it for a dyno run too. the thing is insane to drive!

Well I'm not sure how much progress can be made when Extrem_Imports does not send you a turbo that you've paid good money for :headvswal

I'm sure Fraser will fill you in on all the details tho.
