Can anyone tell me where to go on a skiing holiday in the alps. Something thats ideal for the complete novice. For 2 people for 5 days end of March. Let me know what kind of ski lifts they have. Ideally a B+B where the owners can advise where to hire gear, get passes etc etc.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

A first class resort for begginer's is La Rosiere. really good slopes and spot on tuition.

It is also good for intermediate skier's too with La thule just a long drag lift into Italy for the more testing slopes.

you can ski La Rosiere with out getting on a drag lift. but it's a long way down from the top, but there is a slow drag that goes aobut 400 metre's up with two ways down from the top of it, a nice wide open slope or a tighter run through the trees,

for your 1st time skiing or if you just getting to intermediate level then ther is more than enough skiing here, we went with Ski oplympic. really looked after us.

ring if you want anymore info about the place

hth's graeme

if your a beginner you really want to stay away from drag lifts. bloody torture!

will this be your first time skiing? you might want to try boarding instead, much easier to start with and you look cool even if your crap!

i was in les arcs a few weeks ago. i wouldn't say it's that good for beginners

with you on that one

think la Ros has two drags one very slow for beginer's and one at the bottom of a nice red. now that one lifts you off you feet, not good on a board

boarding is harder to start off with, skiing is easier to pick up unless you have done sk8boarding etc

Bulgaria is very cheap andy!

In the french alps, I find the slopes are not rated by difficulty, but by how badly you can hurt yourself if you fall over!

Thanks for the tips.

So just to confirm La Rosiere has drag lifts then? Thats the T shaped gadgets ? As you can tell, I know nothing about skiing. Whats the problem with beginners and drag lifts?

Cheerz

The trouble is with drag lifts you have to put a seat between your legs and let that pull you up, you are still skiing but with the seat dragging you up, if you are a learner then it can be tricky :D

Andy forgot to speak to you about this when i spoke to you at dinner time

Scubie not scooby LOL.

La rosiere has only two ski lifts as as a brgginer you won't be traveling over to Italy by the drag anyway as it's a medium red to get to it anyway, mostly chairs there, lots of places to hire from and if you use ski olympic they hire in house anyway.

it's about 5 min walk to slopes or you can jump on the free bus,
