so....mine has uK clocKs, a 'proper' swap im told, does that mean i cant get over 155 in mine? a jap auto tt. if thats the case can i maKe it go faster without chipping it?

if so how and how much, im off to germany in july and would liKe it to be able to do top speeds even if i dont have the bottle.

ta for the help

With UK clocks it will be limited to 155....although some seem to hit 165 before limiter kicks in.

An ECU chip can be supplied and fitted for less than £100 though, and along with its many advantages such as being mapped to enable safe running of higher boost it will also remove the speed limiter and move the rev limiter.

rev limiter!!!! whats all that about?

hi guys im seem to be having same problem mines a uk tt92 on my original ecu it was fine i had a jwt chip in it but the ecu packed up, so i bought another from andy stokes and its great car runs sweet, pulls fine but when i took it on motorway yday i floored it in 4th and noticed that it wouldnt go pass 4k-4500k revs and also in 5th i took it to just over the 3digit mark (lollll dont tell the cops) and it was like something was holding it back from going further!! the ecu i had had a number 36 on it and this new one has 37, even with the standard chip in the old ecu car went on till 145 and ket going! can any one help me on this.

hi jaffa what chip is it and how much? also what performance gains am i gona get? im decatted apexi avcr + safc and twin pop indution kit. tnx

i have a chip for sale, don't these remove the restriction?

My standard 'untouched' 91 Uk manual TT clocked 175mhp last weekend racing a 600 bike...

Why does any bother chipping the stock zed i'll never know! ;)

Fast enough i think... :D

some misinformation going on in here. Fitting UK clocks to a jap spec car will NOT alter the 180kph speed limit, the limit is set in the ECU. The mph convertors tricks it into thinking you are going slower than you really are, you will be limited to 180mph after that. Only way to properly do it is to use an aftermarket ECU chip, and either swap to UK clocks or do the resistor mod on the jap speedo.

lol.. i know how to rag my toy....trust me...

my baby IS STANDARD. And i'll take ANYONE for a spin to prove otherwise.

(And show wots under the bonnet.)

KMA!:D

Here's me number if you wanna ride;

(btw. Prefer evening when air pressure is lower, but done 175 on the clock at 3pm on hot day.)

07757 484534 - Btw...You will have to pay for the petrol.

My car.

EOFS. ;-)

I dont have a prob wiv gettin 2 175.

Do u? :D

I hope you're doing this on a private road??

Naughty naughty admitting it on a public site otherwise mate ;)

Ade.

I'm stuck with the rev limiter too! Looks good doing the clock (private road of course ;) ) but when you work out your only doing around 112mph it's a little sad.

So I take it that the best way to sort this is by getting hold of an ecu chip (not one of those e-bay boxes) for the limiter, and a resistor behind the clocks for the speed conversion??

Ade.

i know how to rag my toy

You what? What does that mean?

Yes but what is in the ECU ?

^^^^^ What he said ^^^^^

I dont know, but if doing 4k x 26mph/1000 about, that would be 104mph???in od lock up. indicated 125?. sounds like limiter though.

since it was me that started this thread i thought i should mention my car went into the garage and got its oil leak fixed since then had it up to 145mph

couldnt say for sure if it was or not just dropped it off they fixed it and picked it up again they did say there was leaks in a couple of places though

Fook the speedo. Its just another bit of bling with the indiglo clocks. I use my sat nav for the speed.

Most speedos are 10% out anyway, so ye this is the best way to know your speed.
