Hi All,

My old exhaust has rusted out and I'm going to replace it with a stainless steel system. I'm looking for the full system as it has rusted from the cats all the way down! Its a LWB (2+2) Turbo.

I'm not sure whether to cut out the cats or get new ones. If you get rid of em is it illegal, and does it still pass the co2 test on an MOT??

I have been looking around and its not easy to get an entire system. where did everyone else get theirs???

Post it up!

Hi,

You can de-cat the car legally ONLY if it is older than a 1992 year (ie 1990-1992) otherwise you are legally obliged to have cats come MOT time.

Full systems are hard to come by as most companies supply cat-back systems only. I, for example, sell Mongoose exhaust systems which add a lovely deep throaty roar whilst not being overly loud. If your car is from 1992 or before then you can add decat pipes. Mongoose don't do these but I can also get you some decent decat pipes if you want.

The alternative is to take your car up to Leon at Alunox (Wrexham) for a full custom system - he has worked on quite a few member's Zeds and his work is generally regarded as a work of art. He's not cheap but you do get exactly what you pay for.

I hope the above has given you something to think about. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

All the best,

Dan

Got mine from 2fast2cool on ebay.

Excellent quality and price and you get divorced down pipes.

This system comes straight off the turbos which means that you get the chance to replace the 2 lambda sensors without trying to remove the old one that are rusted into the old system. You get to to screw brand new sensors into brand new pipes!! No complications of drilling out and re-tapping.

As for fitting, there very good, a little tight near the auto box but apart from that they're fine. You also get all new bolts and gaskets.

Good luck,

Andy

Also you have to remember, you do run the risk of blowing the Turbo seals if you de-cat an older engine with old turbo's, which could cost you a lot more in the long run unless you have about £1,500 to spare to replace them if they should go.

i thought it was only really legal if the car ORIGINALLY didn't have one fitted before 1991.
