I fixed the car yesterday putting a new nissan alternator belt on. I went for a drive and it was fine, no squeaking at all, started it just now and its awful, the squeaking is really loud. Im gonna tighten the belt up now but how tight is tight?

At the mo if you press on the belt it moves about 1/2". The other 2 belts are the same but they dont squeak.

fixed, there is another problem but i'll tell all of u later

When your belly is bulging out over the top and you can't bend cos your jeans are too restricting, then loosen the belt.

No sorry, don't go too tight as this can cause brgs to fail.

A good rule of thumb is 10mm movement each way or if you can twist it 180 degrees, some peeps like it more others less.

I would have said so thatit is:

easy twist to 90 degrees and then it becomes difficult.
