Ahhhh the queue for the auto-manual conversion shop :D Or was it the respray shop?

Thats because purple contains red pigment ;)

Come on Andy, every schoolboy knows that RED is the fastest colour.

Think back to your O Level Chemistry: Red pigment is composed (in part) from ferric oxide. I recognize Ferric oxid as Fe2 O3 or hematite ore. You probably know it as rust. It is actually one of the lightest pigments used in modern paint, so will weigh less than (in particular) silver. We're probably talking about a saving of 1.5mg on your zed, but that makes it .....

FASTER !

Here endeth your chemistry lesson for today.

Ah but red is at the bottom end of the spectrum, hence SLOWER

Nope the high school gates are just out of shot!!!!!

Ok children I sold my RED boat and RED Land Rover and went out and got myself a nice RED zed. My wife certainly thinks I must be having one of those later midlife episodes. As for its pulling power it really works like a charm on German birds but I was going to fast to take them up. In this country it’s my wallet that get pulled in all directions. Just to put the speed record straight at my first Cadwell park sprint/hillclimb race meeting two thirds of the RED zed look-alike Ferrari thingies were slower than an old bloke in an old RED Jap car. At least I have a nice gear knob to play with and sad to say yes the knob has a nice RED top.

Check out the colour and weep http://homepage.ntlworld.com/walksonland/car.JPG

Sweet! Full Strosek kit :D Would look better in white though ;) Seriously though thats one tidy looking motor :)

No no no the reason that is fastest is because it is a number of different colours! They initially painted it red but then they realised they would just get laughed off the salt flats. Unfortunately by now they'd almost spent their full budget so had a look in their garden sheds and found some old paint remnants from decorating their houses. They then applied these forementioned paints in the style of blue and yellow stripes down the sides to try and cover up the hideous red (not enough to cover the whole car - presumably they all had big houses so not much paint left). Blitz and Dunlop then came to the rescue with some rather tastily coloured decals and it was these WHITE decals which gave the car the extra 60mph top end speed.

Here endeth todays lesson :D

i heard purple ones were slow too...

Only just found this thread but fook off

Don't associate me with this colour with your boring fridge coloured one

people only buy red ones because ferrari's are red, and they think they got a ferrari! :x: Ooops wrong thread, we done that one   Hang on i had a red one, o yeah i sold it, and got a white one :hyper:

then again if someone is colour blind it can be any colour they want it to be :D

Darker colours are slower as they attract the heat more and they dont like the heat so it makes them slower

White zeds attract dirt, thus adding weight, making the car slow. ;)

 your not wrong there Kim. It aint been washed for weeks and i thought the tyres had gone down, its the extra half a ton of dirt its carrying around

Actually, silver Zeds are THE slowest of all - just look at ChrisC's dyno
