Vibrating front end...

Came back to work tonight and on the way the whole car started shaking quite badly. I pulled into the middle lane (yawn) and slowed down to a sensible speed (yawn again!) but there was bad vibration (no bad jokes please!) still which was transmitted through to the steering wheel. The only thing that has been done recently is that I had all four wheels re-alloyed or coated or whatever its called, so all four wheels have been off thats all?.

Anyone had this problem?.

might sound silly but have u had the alloys ballanced after having them re-furbished or is one wheel loose??? try that first

check the tyres for any bulges after that get the wheels balanced

i had i similar prob after a wheel referb once.the dumb bloke left water in side the tyre when he refitted it that could also give u that effect

cheers philz

Mmmm, sounds like you lost a balance weight or something!

Get the front wheel rebalanced - should only cost you about £6.50 or something at most garages.

Fuck me! If this isn't exactly what happened to me a few months back!!!

I had a bulge the size of Linford Christies lunchbox on my front left hand tyre which was causing the wheel wobble and vibration.

But when I had all the tyres replaced and rebalanced it wasn't much better.

However, I did hear two things fly off the car at high speed and bounce and bang under the car shortly afterwards. Wonder if that was the newly added, shite balancing weights bailing out?!?!?!?!?!?

Thanks for all advice here. I must say that there are no bulges in the tyres or anything suspicious looking. I drove it in this morning and the noise is getting worse by the mile. There is also a 'clunking' sound happening (Gulp!), WTF that is I don't know.

I have just taken it in to a main dealer close by who are going to look at it today (hopefully).

Keep you posted as to what the problem is. It sounded expensive at the time, had images of wheel falling off!!.

I also had a feeling that was backed up by my learned friends that it could be the wheel bearings.

Anyone had theirs changed?.

Hey rockstar - if it IS a front wheel bearing, I have a brand new (unused) spare. Complete with snap ring and seal.

Let me know... and I'll send it for a much reduced price - phone your local dealer and see hoe much they're worth

Pt codes:

Bearing: 40210-33p02

Snap ring: 40214-33p00

hub seal: 40232-33p00

Cheers

WillyEd,

Cheers but if you read my thread 'Fvcking Hell' then I explained what happened in the end.

Tony

WillyEd,

Thanks for your offer but if you read my other thread called 'Fvcking Hell', that explains what happened.
