FTA has received a ‘first warning’ from the National Severe Weather Warning Service of heavy snow during Wednesday night (7 February).

Regional risk assessment for the following areas:

- East Midlands(70%)

- East of England(70%)

- London & SE England(70%)

- SW England(70%)

- West Midlands(70%)

- All of Wales(70%)

- NW England(60%)

- Yorkshire & Humber(60%)

- NE England(30%)

- All other regions less than 20%

The Met Office is expecting a period of heavy snow to develop across South West England and much of Wales during Wednesday night and this is expected to extend across the Midlands, London, the South East of England and East Anglia during Thursday morning. There is also a risk that the snow will extend into parts of northern England for a time before dying away from all areas during Thursday afternoon. Accumulations of 2-5cm are expected quite widely inland, with 10-15cm possible for parts of the Midlands and Wales. Rain is more likely close to southern coasts where less cold air is expected. The period of snow could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across high level routes and the fact that timing of this event will coincide with the morning rush-hour.

This warning will be updated by the Met Office 1100 tomorrow, Wednesday February 2007.

Gently place the right foot and no wheel spin :D

I had to drive my Zed over ice on Sunday Morning I was almost freaking out. But no slipping or spinning at all very gently I crawled and no problems :hyper: :hyper:

But I know what you mean about 3 hours later I had the bloody thing fishtailing up the A30. Put my foot down a little too aggressively, when I should have done the maneourve far more smoothly. Lucky no ice. :D

Well, no snow this morning thank ****. Got the next 3 days of it to look forward to instead :( Although according to the news, the only place in the country it will affect is 'the capital' at rush hour  :xxx:

Good job there's no other places in the UK and the only people that matter are the conjestion charge paying tossers eh.... :xxx:

sun is shining

Far from it. It's only just begun. Whilst the miserable grey shite we've been having has been unpleasant, it wasn't traditionally wintry....just shite! LOL

Glad ive got AWD then He He

Yeah, but its a GTO :wack: :x: ;)

Aha some banter!

Nothing wrong with them-as long as you get a good one.

Though that applies equally well to the Zed as well!

LOL ;) Just as difficult to work on and just as unreliable if you get a rotter :D

Update on severe weather warning

FTA has received an update to yesterday’s bulletin from the National Severe Weather Warning Service regarding heavy snowfall.

The Met Office now gives the following regional risk assessments.

- East Midlands(90%)

- East of England(90%)

- London & SE England(90%)

- SW England(90%)

- West Midlands(90%)

- All of Wales(90%)

- NW England(60%)

- Yorkshire & Humber(60%)

- All of Northern Ireland(50%)

- NE England(30%)

- All other regions less than 20%

The Met Office is expecting a period of heavy snow to develop across much of Wales and parts of South West England early on Thursday, extending to the Midlands, London, the South East of England and East Anglia during the morning. Some snow is now also expected to reach Northern Ireland, with a risk to parts of northern England before dying away from all areas by Thursday evening. Accumulations of 2-5cm are expected quite widely inland, with 10-15cm possible for parts of the Midlands and Wales. Rain is more likely close to southern coasts and across most of Devon and Cornwall. The period of snow could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across high level routes and the fact that timing of this event will coincide with the morning rush-hour.

It's been and gone up here. Couldn't believe my eyes when I seen I had to scrap off the snow on me Z this morning.

Easier than frost though, nice and fluffy.

I think I should Be ok with the snow. :D

Well I've been told that we've been given the day off so no teaching for me tomorrow! And I only had 2 lessons anyway. Still a day at home will be much appreciated!

Snowing quite heavily here now - funny the weather forecast this morning reconed it wasn't gonna get within 50 miles.....

One other thing, why the **** do the schools have to close? Do kids get skin burns or something from snow? FFS all it teaches kids is that education isn't *that* important... Grrrrrrr :D

they close because they are frightened of getting sued when the kids slip over and hurt themselves. thats the sad reality of this shit hole. its a sueing nation now bud.

Just plain rediculous, instead the kids will be out throwing snowballs at passing cars causing accidents. Of course there's the knock on effect of parents not being able to go to work because they have to look after their kids. We do teach the kids some great lessons for life don't we.....

Teachers can't be arsed to drive into work, lazy ****ers if that was me I would get sacked.

Bit of a generalisation there. Unfortunately though the suing thing is absolutely correct.
