What a load of crap, I've finally found out my parcel is finally in the country and that customs have placed charges on it. So I thought I'd ring up the local depot and pay the charges over the phone, rather than wait for a letter to come through and tell me. Simple, yes? NO!!

As I only have the parcel number, and not the letter number, I can't pay the charge!! I've now got to wait for the letter to be posted, then ring them up and wait for another delivery day.

If I'm really lucky the letter may arrive tomorrow, and I could have the parcel on Thursday, otherwise I may have to wait until Friday :headvswal

If they'd of accepted the parcel number it would of been here tomorrow  ****ers :xxx: :xxx:

Parcelforce are dreadful. They once sent me a letter to say they couldn't find my address.

Yeah, I had the same with the CD's I ordered from Amazon in the US   Thought I'd got the damm things at a good price and then ended up having to pay custom duty TWICE as the w*****ers sent it in two parcels. Size of the damm boxes to what was inside it should all have been sent together, just another way for the Government's (US and UK) to take money from us. Robbing barstewards :slap: :slap:

Nothing was said about Customs duty on their website so won't be doing that again Tossers :headvswal :xxx:

It's not the Customs charges that bother me (well they do, but you can't always get away with it ;) ) It's the fact that, although I know it's in the country, I've now got to wait at least another two days before I can have it, even though I'm in a position to pay straight away, saving them a letter. But of course they've got to make their bit, after all they will be charging me as well :xxx:

Not only all that, but I'm off work all this week, and this is one of the items I want3ed to put in the Zed, and sometime tomorrow I will be a home owner again (if all goes to plan) so the latter part of this week was to sort the new house out, not play with the Zed :D

She said, as I don't, yet, have the letter, I don't have the letter number, so she can't take payment.

I know what it means, she probably CAN sort it out, but it means getting up off her fat arse and doing something instead of pissing customers off instead!! ;)

Ugh sorry Dave so fraustrating for you. I never use parcel force for anything even inland.

DHL all the way for me :)

I find it depends on who you speak to at the depo. Sometimes you'll get someone who can't do enough for you, the others you get a twat who struggles to sum up the energy to pick up the phone (if they can be bothered). I blame the equal opportunities employment laws :D

And don't worry Dave, that LED Buttplug will soon be delivered  :D

LOL Now where is Kirbz when you need him

Hey i'm here

Just seen this.

To answer your question, customs are nothing to do with us (parcelforce) the reason you cant pay the charges upfront is until it arrives to the depot they dont know how much to charge so once it arrives at the delivery depot then you can ring up and pay the charges or pay the driver, upto you really.

Mike

We go up to Bristol Parcelforce weekly to collect parcels as they cannot or will not deliver without Major HASSLE lol

I doubt you will see your parcel this week!

Most of the civil servant and publics services (not sure if parcel force are but more than likely to be) are on strike tomorrow and are working to rule.

This would be why she wouldn't take payment without the letter ref. It is probably easily done but not really supposed to be when working to rule.

By the time they get through the backlog of parcels it will be arriving late in my opinion.

Really hope I'm wrong and they are not included in the strike but just a warning not to get your hopes up.

Cheers Mike,

I've just got the update, and as you say it now en-route to the delivery depot. But she never said that to me, she simply said, no letter, no way (well that's not what she said exactly, but I've condensed it ;) ) She never said anything like what you've just said

So will they try to deliver it? Or will they just hold it, then send me a letter requesting payment? because last time this happened, they held on to it and sent a letter, without even trying to deliver it

Cheers bud

if they have contact details they will try to ring you to give you advance warning that you will need to pay money but they will still try to delivery it, if its on route today then they should try to deliver tomorrow :)

Thanks Mike, lets see what happends then ;)

if you have any problems send me the parcel number via pm and i will look into it for you

Cheers Mike, I'm in all day tomorrow anyway (sorting the Zed out) Do they take a cheque or card at the door, or is it cash only?

The saga continues..............

I received a letter today requesting customs duty. They never even tried to deliver it (just the same as last time!) Total bill £33.88, of which breaks down to....

Import Duty....................... £10.67

V.A.T.................. ............ £15.21

Parcelforce Clearance Fee.... £ 8.00

Total................................ £33.88

Arr well, you can't win them all.

It's been in the UK since Tuesday, I won't receive it until tomorrow (Friday) such a great service you receive in the UK!! Saying that it took just over 24 hours from being handed over in Hong Kong to actually leaving the country (same city)
