E-Mail Virus

Hi,

Just thought I would let those know - who don't yet.

I run www.zcentre.co.uk for Luke, and www.zclub.net for the club.

There have been a spate of email virus's going around at the moment. If you don't have a virus checker installed you probably have it. If you do have it you'll probably notice your PC has slowed down significantly. The slow down is caused by the virus replicating itself and infecting all your files.

On a typical PC the virus can infect around 400 files an hour (I know - I tried it on my 'dirty PC' to see what effect it would have)

The reason for writing this is to let everyone know the virus is V sneaky. It spoofs the senders address to make you think it has come from someone else. At the moment there are a lot of 'you sent me a virus' emails winging their way to innocent parties. Most are of the W32.Klez.gen variety. Read about it here

Basically if you have the virus, it'll send itself to other people in your address book using someone else's email address instead of yours.

Hope this can prevent some people from sending off hate mail to innocent parties!

If you don't have a virus checker go here:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/

It's free! I'd suggest if you do have a virus, go out and buy a decent scanner - one that scans incoming and outgoing e-mails.

Hope this helps,

Martin
