Since migrating from Limewire to Edonkey a few years ago I was a bit disappointed to see them get brought down by the thought police (I know the network is still running...or at least I think it still is...but I'm a bit worried about them logging my I.P. and I can't figure out how to enable TOR to work with it...I can get it to operate on any other page but not with Edonkey for some reason...any ideas about this would also be great...but I digress...).

After going back to Limewire and finding it not as good as I remember I've been trawling around reading reviews on whats new out there. Thought I'd throw it open to you guys. I know the obvious choices but is there anything else people would recommend? Would like to tangle with the whole bitorrent thing but I'm a bit of a Luddite in these matters so it might be good if there was something with a user friendly front end to deal with it? Any thoughts appreciated. Ta muchly.

Leigh.

Does Azureus come with an idiot proof front end then? Didn't think it did or did I just dream it? :wack: Used to have the original PeerGuardian on the laptop but for some reason I haven't gone back to it. Will rectify that forthwith.

im getting there mate, things are getting better by the day, its a slow process but things have improved, we are still waiting the results of the mri scans, and they are on about a lumbar puncture also.

i am still relying on this stupid spell checker to make things right when i type them, but its ok for now.

I use Utorrent to download and torrentSpy.com to search for the stuff i want. Since the beggining of this month iv downloaded a total 40.9 GB lol. I can't complain really seen as emule and limewire never seemed to work. Most of this has been film downloads 46 to be exact plus a simpsons series 17 and 2 pc games. Try it mate.

I find myself switching between WinMX http://www.winmxgroup.com/

and Shereaza http://www.shareaza.com/

Use Shereaza for bittorrents, and both of them for P2P stuff. If you cant find the vid/file/app on WinMX, try Shereaza, it might be available there.

HTH

Liking Shareaza a lot. Now using it for P2P and bittorrents :D Used to have WinMX but if all goes well I'll be sticking with the above for a bit :) Ta Rob!

Shareaza does seem pretty good.

I've been using it a while and it's dead simple to use and logs into all the different P2P networks and handles torrents.

Got to be Peerguardian for blocking the authorities ;)

peerguardian only blocks a few known addresses, most of which are harmless, not to mention some of the fastest seeders. Doesn't really offer any security at all.

939,472,712 addresses according to mine

I don't think anyone thinks it's foolproof but got to be better than nothing?

Any better ideas?
