I bought mine about a month ago (friday before chrimbo) and have been planning to complete the car from scratch to what i want, after talking to quite a few people and spending the day with a bodyshop looking at all the options to get this car the way I want it doesnt make sense money wise for me to do it to the car ive got     I dont have the money for a showcar or to bring it up to the level of some of the members on here, I thought it would be cheaper then it is and is my fault for not doing my research first.

I am not a fan of the pearl white so it would have to be bare metal resprayed as i wouldnt be happy with just a colour change, I thought i could live with it but unfortunatley it bothers me too much to live with.

Shes a stunning low milage car and is great in everyway but is very much standard engine wise and the interior is nice but just not what i want. The list ive got and the idea in my head of how I want my ZED to look doesnt weigh up.

Custom interior is a must and to the exact colours i have in mind, If it was just this alone then it wouldnt be a problem, I can take this to any car i get but when added to all the other bits means its the wrong side of exspensive

Getting the engine to near 450+bhp is a feat on its own let alone with everything else.

Sorry to go on but ive started to realise this over the last week and have ordered and bought crap loads of stuff for her (see my rides) thinking it was going to happen but today is when after talking to a bodyshop and Topless garage that it really hit me that i would be better off throwing all the money into a beast of a car and then bit by bit change to want i want rather then trying to build a brand new car.

The 2hr drive back from the bodyshop was horrible, Ive really fallen for mine but i went in with my heart and not my head, I should have done it the other way around to what i have. :slap:

The good news out of all of this is that im after a new ZED :) Theres a few members motors that id love to buy but feel it would be rude to ask before offered

Anyone with a resprayed or absolute mint paintjob and 450bhp pref 500bhp ZED that has thought of selling and wasnt sure then heres a little push.

Ive got a Very (in my mind and more then most of the cars on here have sold for) decent amount of money in "CASH" for the right car, I will also have to sell mine too which adds even more to the pot but i dont need to sell to buy yours unless its MAC`s or CJ`s  then sell the missis and kid, tvs, pc, golf, family, friends and then myself as a rent boy and i could just about afford the engine!!!!

Any advice or help in my quest would be very much appreciated, As soon as i left the bodyshop i wanted to call a fellow ZED owner to ask them their thoughts but havnt met any of you yet, I spoke to Jason Farrow for ages the other night and it was great to get a different perspective on things.

I also dont need to be called an idiot as i allready know this.

Sorry for the essay but if any place can help me its here :)

with 9k in your hand you could prob own any z in britain and thats high end...............nobody in their right mind would lay out 20k on any z now with all the other true supercars out there..........dont get me wrong the z is a class car but people need to wake up and smell the coffee if you think the days of the 10k z are still here

Carl mate,

Some good points there and they are taken on board and this is what the post was for in the first place.

Its not the colour isnt exactly as i want... I hate it more and more everytime i see it (no offence) which is not a nice felling to be honest. What you class as a stunning colour someone else would hate. This isnt a put down on white zeds but i cant live with it. Thats the first thing needing changing and the quote to do it properly in a bare metal as the white is its second colour by the same place as Jason Farrow allthough you get what you pay for works out at a lot.

I dont like the interior, Its very clean and standard but again not for me. See my other post on the bare essentials to tidy it up was over 3.5k could be done cheaper but im not that kind of bloke.

Then there is the engine, To get what i want after speaking to a few people would cost the wrong side of 15k to do it to the best condition it can be.

I have a car that needs all of the above and what i want to do is buy one thats had the most exspensive part done ie: engine

Hopefully its had the body done aswell leaving me the interior.

I never said i wanted a half finished car  I said i wanted it mint but if it left me the interior to do then thats a sacrifice worth having.

I could throw 30k plus into a car or buy one thats had that kind of money thrown into it for no where near that. The car i buy will be one that i like and not completley the opposite of what im after as in it will be as close to my taste as possible so that i dont have to go mad on it.

This hasnt been an overnight decision, ive spoken to topless garage, jason farrow, andy lines and so on and after all these conversations its clear this is the way to go.

Might seem mad to you but to me it makes perfect sense fella :D and the importing one is a last choice as id take one in the uk with less over one in japan with more for that exact reason you mentioned about the history and is exactly what i did with mine, read over every post concerning my car, saw all the problems she had had and what was fixed on her so i know what you mean kind of.

Spongey, i've got to say i also think your mad! Ok the colour isnt exactly what you want, that can be changed in the future. Tbo i cant really understand where your coming from, your talking about getting another car that is half how you want it, then carrying on to change it to tatally how you want it? Your allready half way there mate you have a zed a good one at that. I think your being impatient bud (no offence) but your new to the zed game and what you gotta realise is these cars are ALL on going projects and the guys who have got the show quality cars you are after have spent years and pots of money getting them the way they want, its a slow process and have all had to spend time driving them around untill they got them to how they want them. Your far better off with a car you know the history of and building yourself which you will know every detail of than importing one your very unlikely to know any history of, it could cost you a lot more money in the long run if you buy a car with a 500bhp engine that goes bang! Keep the car you have and work on that just be patient mate.

i disagree, mac was offered well and i mean well over £10k for his, i got offered well over £10k for mine (once finished) and i know of a few which have sold for close to £10k as well so if you get the right zed and the right person then you can get £10k ;)

tbh its the same on any car you never get much of the money you invest in mods back, way of the world i'm affraid but if the cars been done right they can still command decent money

Thats exactly what i was trying to say above but much much shorter and clearer

So spongey how much will you be selling the Zed for? I read that you have already brought bits and bobs so was wondering on price. My mate is considering getting one over a Supra and loves white cars.

Not sure what his budget is at the moment, it's just so I can approach him with a ball park figure.

Here you go mate :)

The hids and other bits in my rides section that i bought with her arnt for sale, ill keep the for my new car same with the carputer and gauges.

Its everything in the list on there mate, the fog, window trim and clocks lid, converted blue pods and clocks and so on that are on her. send him my way but i have a viewing on wednesday night and another at the weekend of it doesnt go on wed.

Cheers mate :D

I'd ask Kirbz nicely and see if he's bring me in a moderate-big power car from Japan.

Then get the cosmetic stuff done yourself to your taste in the UK.

I've been thinking about doing this myself - but I don't really have the cash and I'll probably just try and pay off a bit of the mortgage instead.

I didn't know that you had that much done to it. It seems a shame to sell but understand your view.

Can't believe the price your selling it for, i may be wrong but believe you could easily get more and still manage a quick sale.

My mate is a no go i'm afraid as he wants to more stuff himself and is now looking for as close to stock as possible.

Good luck with the sale.

Its what i paid for it so wouldnt charge more for it mate, If id stuck all the mods on then it would be going up but as she stands it has to sell for the same price i paid 3wks ago.

Tell your mate to have a look through the cars for sale here, some nice clean stock "ish" ones and theres also a few on ebay.

Allready asked him craig, he is keeping an eye out for me :)

Wow my old car causing controversy!!!

I see where you're comming from wayne - even if she wasn't for you she's given you the bug I see. If i had you're income I would probably do exactly the same.

To own a zed you need much deeper pockets than i have. 2 intercoolers, 2 turbos, 2 throttlebodies, 2 cylynderheads packaged so tightly is obviously going to cripple you if the worst comes to the worst.

The one thing I've learnt now having had 3 zeds is that if you're on a moddest income and you want something to tune - only an idiot like myself buys a zed (3 times :headvswal!!!)

So i'm gonna try my luck with a Skyline GTST (flame-on!!!). Not as visually dramatic, but not an awfull lot slower and a damn site easier and cheeper to maintain and tune.

All the best to Wayne and whoever takes on my old zed - maybe no show car, but she was way above the average zed sheds that seem to outnumber the good ones around these days.
