Guys you'll probably think I'm nuts!!

Got my z'd import about 2 months ago (91 TT 2+2). Everything is standard bar suspension. It's been lowered, stiffened and has sports shocks, oh and not forgeting 17inch alloys.

The problem is the ride, its too harsh for everyday use, great for the circuit and loads of fun. However, there is no body role at all, I feel every damn crack in the road and its begining to annoy me.

I've managed to find a company whos got a Zed their breaking and I've already bought the stock suspension.

Any recomendations as to who I should get to fit it??? Has to be in or near London.

I have a local garage in mind, but their not Zed experts, got anyone you've used to recommend??

Thanks in advance.

George

how much of a hurry are you in ?

i'm sure Steve E can hook you up with Darren.

He did my full suspension, from stock to lowered/stiffened in 4 hours.

if you had posted before buying, then you could have got stuff from here....

i have a set of stock springs

are you shocks not adjustable ?

have you got uprated anti roll bars ?

i might be interested if you are taking them off as well ;)

want to swap suspension what do you have

sorry can i maby buy what you have got

Hi George,

Darren done my shocks and springs aswell.

He would probably give your Z a diagnostics test while he's there with Consult II.

I can email you his number to arrange things if you want.

Steve

Guys,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Not sure want I'm going to do with my old bits, I may keep them, let you know if I change my mind.

If I knew you guys had the stock springs I would have bought them!! (I should have asked) Instead I got the springs and shocks from an advert in the exchange and mart, not sure if there any good?

They look okey but the rubber casing on the shocks are all worn and falling off (does this matter??)

I've also been told by a tyre place near me that it will take a whole day to put them on!!

Steve, can you mail how to get hold of Darren, just in case I decide to use him. He does sound good and you all highly recommend him.

Do you know if he also does the wheel alignment as it will have to be done as well???

Thanks a lot guys.

George,

in my opinion, 2nd hand shocks are a waste of money, unless you know they are only a few months/few thousand miles old.

They could be all over the place when you put them on.

I thought i had one knackered one, but they were all knackered when they were off.

The uprated shocks you have should still be okay with stock springs, are they adjustable at all ? I would check this out a bit more.

For someone who doesnt know the Z, then a full day may be about right, especially as the rears need all of the boot trim removed to get to.

Darren knows the Z very well. And i took the rear trim out while he was doing the fronts, (my contribution to the work ;), took four hours.

I took my car to southfields where they have a 4 wheel electronic computer alignment.

I'll dig the number out.
