I am ringing round to get a quote for next year.

Elephant quoted me 570 quid FC all mods declared, Excellent I thought, I'll take that

that is where the problems started.

Because some woman reversed into me last year while I was sat in my mates front room.

They said it will take my premium up to 800 punds, even though the claim was made from her insurance, and was then cancelled by myself as it was more convenient for me to repair the damage myself.

How is that so??????

Any answeres or advice will be greatly received.

Scotty

Are they your present company?

Ask to speak to an underwiter. The call centre operator prob just got confused and labeled it as claim outstanding.

I had the same problem. Someone broke into my car and stole the stereo and I called insurance company to see what details they would need if I was to claim. I then called a couple of days later and said I would not be claiming as it was not worth it.

The next time I took insurance out, the company I had phoned informed meI had made a claim and so premium would go up.

Turns out that even mentioning it to my insurance company was not as a wise move as it goes in your file as a claim, even though it wasnt!!!!

I was not happy!!!!

You can almost understand why some people don't bother with insurance, Its nothing but a bloody swindle.

It is even worth going fully comp??? any advice on insuring the zed for third party fire & theft??

Insurance is about Risk. It's much the same as betting. An underwriter will way up the odds of your car being involved in an accident, who's fault is irrelevant as the only thing they are intrested in is making money and the odds of your car being involved in an accident. The easiest way they can make money is for you to make it through the year without an incident. You want lower premiums, fine, that means they make less money. Mention accident to an insurere and your premium will go up no matter what is your more likely to have another one.

^ what he said.

It's not fair, but there you go. And if you didn't declare it they'd null your insurance if they did ever find out.
