Do you have premises cover in that? i put that i'm part time and work from home, been with them about 6 years now but i remember them not taking any "normal car insurance" no claims bonus into account.

Yeah get a 10K premises cover included in that.. I've had a trade policy NCD for nearly 20 years now MMA wouldn't protect it so now I'm back to sod all.. Car insurance is a F***ing rip off esp when you live in the middle a noplace like I do.. But still saved me a £1000 thanks again mate.. If your ever up this way gimme a shout !!! I'm about 5 miles out a Dundee on the Aberdeen Rd

just out of interest what do you actually need to get a traders policy?

Well that depends on the company you try to get insurance with.. If you go to MMA they will happily take your money untill you have an accident "10 years in my case over £15,000 I've paid them".. Then they won't pay out!!! You have to prove your a trader.. "Well I sent them copies of my trade papers from Tech and my HNC proving I was a mechanic" Not good enough they said we're not paying!!! So I sent them recipts for everything I'd bought that year but because some had cash sale on them they refused to pay.. Right I then took pictures of my garage "Well everyones got a ramp, Gas, Mig welders in there garage don't they" They said it's not my garage ... I am by now going F***ing daft !!!!!!.. I finaly printed the pictures got a GP to sign the back saying it is my garage and they still won't pay.. I've given up as it was a third party claim anyways .. BE WARNED DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR THESE PEOPLE "MMA" THEY ARE CROOKS.. and they say car dealers give the trade a bad name

Craig

Rant over!!!!!

All this talk of traders policys is all well and good until something goes wrong if your not a dealer/trader. A quality insurance broker will ask for proof of this before takeing

your money ,a lot of traders policys are worthless when you read all the small print

I think the legal side of it is, if your are registered self employed /inland revenue/accountant you should be ok . The problem is any one can say they are a mechanic with a garage and the insurance will take your money of you.

Haha but you can also be a part time trader !!! Then things get really tricky..
