In this case the veil should have been removed to prove their identity regardless of faith.

and yes, everyone should be the same, except white British people who are the 3rd class citizens around here.

I have the utmost respect for all religions, but veils should NOT be worn in public, when teaching or when on TV. if anything, it is downright bad manners.

This story got me thinking as well.

 

You are not allowed to wear a motorcycle helmet in a bank for security purposes but you are allowed to wear a veil.

 

You are not allowed to wear a hoody in shopping malls but you are allowed to wear a veil.

 

You are not allowed to wear a cross round your neck if you work for BA but you can wear a turban.

 

What's the solution? make hoodies a religous symbol so the kids can wear them? or ban veils?

If you got caught in an airport with a false beard, glasses and a wig you'd be locked up or shot dead if your a white male quicker than you could say wig.

 

The point of a berka or what ever they are called is to hide the face Why?????. If you don't want anyone to know what you look like then stay out of public places.

 

The security problems we have in the west due to fundimentalist Terrorist means that we must be able to see who you are. However the people claiming their religious right to hid their Identity are the same cultural & ethnic groups who's peers are wanting to blow us up.

 

Surely any reasonable Muslim leader can see this and would if their intentions were truly peace full and law biding call for an end to the Yashmaks and Berkas as a sign of good faith and unity.

 

I think if they carn't respect our whishes (which they obviously don't) then they should be deported back to whence they came regardless what tale of woe they have told us.

I think the media is horribly quick to make any story involving Muslims into a 'Them and us' situation.

I think the story is aimed at how pathetic the security is. Regardless of religion, they should have de-hooded every veil wearer as part of their job.

strip-search anyone who's rude enough to ignore politeness and our social beliefs. i know plenty of muslim women who just wear the headdress. you can see their face and there is no problem religion-wise for them.

If you dressed as a KKK you'd be locked up before you got to the end of the street for insighting racial hatred as the KKK are outlawed in the UK. Apart from the pointed hat the costumes are very similar and wether by design or not, because of the terror threats etc. These religious costums are having the same effect on the none muslim people of this country as the KKK garb had upon the Black comunities of the southern states of the US. I've seem people get of trains and busses as soon as such attired people board. They feel intimidated and would rather wait for another bus or train.

when i came into UK two years ago (first time)... (flight from zimbabwe -> South Africa -> Athens -> London) there was one fella at the customs and goods to declare desk thing, and he just stood there staring... didnt ask anything or say anything or stop anyone .. just stood like some mute breathing statue :wack:

 

I got searched in my friggin own home country ... and Im a foreigner to UK and they didnt give a damn ...... thank goodness im an honest person eh... (sometimes) lol
