Hellgate: London

OK put a little post up earlier in another thread, and thought err what teh hell.

I have been lucky enough to beta test this game off and on for about a year now. This game is like nothing before it. The creators are Ex Blizzard with 2 guys who worked Doom 2.

The easiest way I can describe this game is WOW spliced with DOOM2 and Battlefront 2. Its a Massivly Multiplayer (and single) Role Playing 1st person shooter(ish most weapons dont need aiming just charging).

Hence why this is so long in the making. It has its own engine, each player develops stats as in a RPG Like Diablo2, WOW and Guild Wars but you go around kicking ass like Doom2 and to a certain extent as in Battlefront 2.

I dont see this game being released much before middle of next year, as I played this 2 weeks ago folowing the last big "patch" and the game ran for a good bit then crashed everyone out. To say tehre must of been 1000's of disapoited testers and makers out tehre is an understement.

OH and before you ask, no I cant get you a copy, i only play it when a beta model is testable. and sometime I spend more time looging error codes than i do playing.

Spent the last hour going over the site, the links and watching the vids. Very, very cool. Flagship seem to be onto a winner here. I've never played a MMRPG before but I think this will tempt me to try. Liking the idea of the new "Hunter" class they've brought in. Makes it way more interesting, more skill and involvement, less "fire and forget". I will be watching with interest.

Thats the only part of the game that a lot of the beta testers dont like, fire and forget. But it would be unplayable if you had to aim as My skill bar has something like 180 sets. Aiming, forget it. But would be a lot better.

Was talking to one of the developers and the idea is that they will start with London then head to Paris and New york etc.

They have a Cabalist skill thats probably not going to make it to the main game called Exorcism, its gross lol.

Yep, was reading a post on one of the boards by the head honcho and he did say that if it does well it will be transferred to other well known cities (listed a good 12 or so!). TBH, not wanting to band wagon jump, but for the past 10 years I've had a cracking idea for a game floating around in my head, in which the gaming area was a finely detailed and mapped London (or New York for the sequel! :D) but with less destruction and generally less er...hell...than Hellgate uses. My idea probably wouldn't work with the tech we have at the moment...need to wait a couple of years so it can cope! Lol! :) But Hellgate really does look the one for me. TBH, any game that lists a sanctified Cricket Bat under weaponry is ok in my book:
