It's about time we put the 300 on the map, so we're building something for the job.

Just thought I'd ask what we have to beat at the moment, in the UK.

I'm interested in documented quarter mile times, lap times, top speeds etc.

It would be awesome to compete in TOTB at some point, but not till we're ready to really kick ass.

So, what ya got? :)

Dave.

after paul g's recent theft and not wanting to sound iffy but i'd be very wary of posting your specs etc at the moment its an open site in general section and you have no idea who is looking.........i know most of the 300 lads are close knit but you have to be careful as theres some pretty shady people out there just looking for a shopping list

If chunk gets his finished in time hes doing 10 of the best next year.

i dont think anyone else is thou but who am i to know lol

I'm not looking for a shopping list, just performance figures.

to give you an idea, if you want to enter totb next year they will be limiting it to fewer cars so to qualify in the RWD class your looking as needing to do a 11 poss 10 sec 1/4 mile and be able to enter the handling course.

to win any points these are the type of figures your gonna need to do:

1/4 - sub 10.5s

Top - +175 mph in 1 mile

Handing - sub 40 sec

the car you need to be looking at is joels viper as he always scores points, but last year he only just scored points and he is running 800+bhp!!

i have been trying to get the rules changed with chris who runs totb and think there needs to be a pro AND and street class but it doesnt look like its gonna happen :( so this means your always going to be up against the likes of the tuners demo cars ie calder supra, dragon rx7, envy supra etc etc

 Chunk

i know its the taking part that matters but i would only go in it if i could win some points and in all honesty against the big boys theres not much chance than a 300zx can win any points in the comp :(

as i said if they made a section for genuine people who have built the cars themselves, running interiors, normal pump fuel, street tyres etc etc then we may stand a chance but TOTB are under pressure from the big tuners like abbey to let their cars in

some good points there Mike, would be nice to have a street section as it's unrealistic to compete against the demo cars. I'm still tempted to go along next year anyway just to have a go but we'll see

what gets me is the winner last year ie the norris evo, for one its been cut in half and shortened, then the roof was cut off and lowered, it has a side exhaust, runs race fuel, slicks and pretty much has 1 seat in it!! hardly a car you can use on the street to go to asda etc and IMHO and the most important rule any car that is allowed to enter should be (or have been) available to buy in a car showroom with that engine configuration etc so no granadas with super charged V8's or dodgy kit cars with V8s in them!!

Yeah, I agree with everything you say Kirbz, I was only using TOTB as an example.

I'm still looking for performance figures from real people on here ;)

Nothing yet it seems :wack:

its always difficult to judge performance figures, do you want acceleration?? in which case then dont bother trying with a zed as for less money you can get much acceleration, do you want top end then you cant go wrong with a zed, do you want mid range, again zeds rule, do you want 1/4 mile fun in which case zed are OK but not brilliant.

what figures people have done, well your looking at low 4s 0-60, i have reached 180+ in my old zed and jaffa has a mid 12 sec 1/4 to his name so if you want a very fast street zed then a mid 11s 1/4 car will be a nice aim to go for ;)

yeah but the granada is

as far as i know, Kirbz had the most powerful "proven" zed in the uk with 479@the wheels(about 550 crank?)i've not seen a higher rolling road sheet put up anyway :)

Thanks Paul, but I'm not interested in BHP figures, they're too easily flowered up and mean nothing on the road or track ;)

Still no figures then?

Goodness, at this rate if I post up my crappy quarter mile time I'll have the fastest "proven" 300 on the forum

(it was crap by the way, so I'll not bother :wack: )

Just post it up then.

most of the other times are in the Members section of the forum. We Na owners use our own NA forum and others use the TT bit.

But the whole point of TOTB is exactly that !!! Its TEN OF THE BEST cars in the UK nothing about keeping anything stock its about pushing the max potential that people in the uk can. Si has exceeded past many ideas others have by shortening and lowing the chassis and good on him, Its his ideas which he put into practise as stupid expense but why not whats his job to prove what his company can do and TOTB is the ultimate place to prove it. And his evo still runs the same 4G63 engine that the car came with ..ok its been reworked extensively but nevertheless its still the 4G63 mate. There are plenty of events for other to show off what their cars can do but the top tuners need somewhere ay.

Actually simon breaks a number of rules with his car but as he's a "big player" its not looked into and the whole event is about normal road cars and "ten of the best" roads cars, simons cut and shut evo is hardly a road car, as much i love the car its a pure demo/race car etc

as said before,it would be great for them to have a "non tuners" category for road cars using road tyres, full interiors, pump fuel and fully mot'd and taxed etc rather than a bunch of cars turning up on trailers.

i dont plan on entering TOTB as it's all about who has the most money and i for one cant compete with the money the likes of the norris evo and calder supra have spent on them.

I "hope" to have the fastest road going uk zed next year,my aim is to go for the zeds already strong points, midrange and top speed with 200mph being the target.

Paul.

agree with him! ^

normal people in garages cant compete with that...i think there should be a pro and street class like was mentioned earlier....i would like to compete in it next year also, my motor should be pretty sorted by then, but thats one of the reasons im backing away from the idea....cant compete with the calder or norris boys and the 20 other tuning shops that use the event as a showcase!

huh?? has paul had his car stolen???
