Just gone to renew the insurance on my second car and they put it up cos someone went into the back of my Z last year. Apparently I'm more of a risk cos someone hit me??? How the hell do they work this out???? Isn't anyone a risk if they're on the road, that's the idea of insurance!!!!! I can see why people don't bother with insurance/tax cos it's the people who are legit get screwed.

Rant over.

almost exactly the same damn thing happened to me in 2004, was stopped at a traffic light in harrow in my old hyundai coupe, some punk breaks late and hits me from behind. my car was in neutral and handbrake up, cant get much safer than that... the other party admitted total liability and paid up, but since, i have had raised insurance premiums because i'm higher risk, complete *****x. i have to live with that for 3 years (only have to disclose that for 3 years).

How many no claims do you have and did you loose any?

Did the person that rear ended you fork out or did you claim on your own insurance.

I have full no claims (16/17 years) and I always protect it.

The guy accepted liability and it's being sorted out now. It's not cost my insurance company anything. The accident was on my 300, it's my other car that's going up on insurance.

Yet another way of being screwed! Insuarnce companies must have their own version on the Karma Sutra!!!

I'd tell them you want a favourable quote or your going elsewhere and see what they come up with.

They tried to do this to my husband when some one went into the back of his RX7. He told them that unless they came up with a far better quote he'd be going else where. He explained the situation to a few other insurance companies and got far better quotes.

They will try anything to get more money out of you. Know your rights and call their bluff.

Absolutely, say you're taking your business elsewhere!

I had the same thing with the AA, they put my premium up cos i used them 4 times in a year (bloody z) I rang to cancel and they backed down and changed it back to a standard renewal price. (i know its not insurance but it shows they try anything)

I fear to think what my traders policy is gona cost me next year I've had 3 smashes in the last 6 months :(

Insurance just sucks full stop.

i totally understand why people dont pay it, but it p1sses me off cause I do, so they should too!
