Hi All

Need to get the driver side front wheel off my car, all is ok apart from 1 wheelnut, which loosens either way I turn it for about half turn then tightens itself again!!

Would this be a locking wheelnut??

thanks

Ed

Does it look like a locking nut? if it looks like the rest then it isnt. Try spraying it with wd40 for a while, you may have to force it off and replace the stud the threads are nackered.

I had this when I changed my wheels and the B@****d Sheared

Good Luck

It does look slightly different to the rest..but i dont know what a locking nut looks like!

If you can get your socket on it perfectly then it isnt a locking nut :)

Post a pic just to be sure though.

Just sounds like a siezed thread, spray it with penetrative lubricant lots and hope. If you need a new stud they arent expensive and not bad job to replace, bout half hour if you're quick, a lazy afternoon if you're not :)

the socket does fit over it, i'll try what you suggest..looks like i better give myself an afternoon to do it!!

Thanks

Ed

if its trying to re-tighten itself, as said, threads are knackered and it will most likely snap. big breaker bar, break it then swap the stud.

si.
