Craig David
No, not kill it. Take out all the bath and sink and toilet and re tile it and paint it and put fancy ones like Mrs Craig David might have seen in a showhome? Any ideas? More or less if the bathroom has a shower rather than a bath (to start with and you don't swap)? Thanks in advance. :nana2:

snipe202
but seriously, if mrs craig david has spoken, i will have a word with my mate's brother in the morn. he's in the trade and will be able to give you a more useful answer. were you thinking of buying the units and installing them yourself, or gettin the job done as a whole? stellaZ
shower baths are the way to go, expect to spend upto £800 for a decent shower bath and screen decent toilet pans, cistern and all fittings could cost upto £200 then a wash basin (bathroom sink lol) could cost upto and over £200 tiles can be anything, then there is all the hidden costs like flooring, ceiling, moving radiators or just changing for a towel rail could cost upto £300 or more then there is the labour which could be upto £50 an hour if not more, a decent plumber would take upto three days to fit all this (without tiling and flooring and ceiling) properly with copper pipe (usually 8 hour days) we just finished a job for a lady which cost her all together in excess of £6000 of course you could use cheaper materials, but im guessing that mrs craig david has taste lol
stellaZ
for an idea of cost of materials, go and get the new B&Q catalouge (its all good gear) it has everything you need, at decent prices (usually cheaper than trade)
komarme
I'm in the middle of haveing mine done. We had to remove old tiles and have the walls re plastered. We spent around £3400 for the Shower, Bath, Basin and Toilet and fittings. another £170 for under floor heating, £200 for a towel rail £800 for tiles. We had to replace the tank £70 for a larger one and we needed a pump £160 for the shower. £200 for a bathroom mirror cabinet. Material for the bath panels. £100 for some LED lighting and around £2000 for labour as things in the bathroom needed to be moved from their original position. So I would say you could quite easily spend £5k -£10k depending on if you want basic or grand designs. I wanted a in wall TV but the wife wouldnt have it. Craig David
Hmm... interesting. Many thanks everyone for your help. We're about to buy a house (today maybe!) and we're still considering two. One is slightly better but the bathroom(s!) are quite badly done so Mrs CD would want them re-done. She'd want to get rid of all the artexing in that house too so I nthink it'll all add up quite a lot. We'll probably go for the other one I think..... we can just leave it as it is and if we get any spare money just put it into the mortage rather than spend it on bathrooms. Thanks again folks - really really useful info there!
komarme
Keep in mind that if you redo the bathroom it will add money to the value of the house. People care about how a bathroom and how a kitchen look.
Guest vigilante
who the feck would spend that much money on a BATHROOM?! :D that's like a pair of HUGE turbos, or an assassin to take out the wife so you are then ALLOWED to spend the rest of your money on the car :D

Craig David
They're only 3 or 4 years old.
