thinking of a tour de island meet so we can hook up with scotty who is always coming onto mainland so i thought its about time we returned the gesture.

would like to have a bit of a look round so scotty seeing as your local you can sort a little tour for us.

want to make a day for it so leave early. there are a few route options but as most of you are between b'mouth and soton lymington is the most viable option and i have confirmaton from scotty lowered cars and low bumpers ( if careful ) can access the ferry easily.

do what you can fella ;)

mind your bumpers getting on the ferry lads esp if its lowered or after market ripped a big chunk out the bumper on my first zed driving on to a ferry

Me, if weather is gonna be goodish.

thbh its best to go out of peak times due to cost of the ferry. i was planning on getting a 7 am ferry or there abouts

evening all, 7AM...on a Sunday..even the church bell-ringer doesn't get up that early.....bit too early for me to start off, but if you can give me some idea of where you're planning to go I'd love to catch up with you all once I've woken up. Thats assuming I can sort out a "minor" hic-up with my new venom rear lights...not exactly legal at the moment...ho, hum, never a dull moment!!

Cheers, Steve

PS, would be coming over from Pompey for my sins!!

Jesus Gaz 7am?????? the island doesnt open until 10 on a sunday

i'm interested if its meeting up somewhere to convoy to ferry etc and not before 9am at the earliest. not really interested if its a make my own way and try to meet up over there

So what ferry company and where we getting it from/too?

Sure people could meet up for a convoy to the ferry if its the same price all day. 9am or something.

Won't be able to do it, don't finish work until 7am on that day! :smash:

This sounds interesting,if and only if i still have the Z i may tag along, its a straight run from here to southampton,Red Funnel were great earlier this summer(to east Cowes) and the island is fantastic(yes a tad quiet in some areas,we were in Bonchurch, bit too quiet maybe,i first went in 1970 but i like that)one road that would be great to blast down is the Ventnor to Alum Bay road, some fantastic views, long open roads(even in July) with nice sweepin bends  then blast from Freshwater to Carisbroke.

Will be going back next summer,St Lawrence.

I think the clocks go forward early on Sunday 29th so we'll have an hour less in the sack anyway BUT, we have to start somewhere so:-

I suggest 10.15 ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth, 20.00 ferry back from Yarmouth to Lymington.

We could meet up at 09.00 at somewhere like a Little Chef near or in Lymington (early arrivals can enjoy a breakfast/coffee) and convoy to the ferry.

What do you think? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Dave

Sounds like a plan.

Falmouth?? not coming to the island then lol

You mean YARMOUTH mate

Whoops!.........geography never was my strong subject. Thanks Scotty, I have edited my post to 'Yarmouth'.

Dave

Sounds good to me!

If we all meet up close to lyminton, other people could meet up on the way down. I know i'd prob drive past Captain Slows house, but then if we gotta be there by 9am, maybe ill go on my own :nelson:

You'll have to come Tony, see how your old cars going!

They go back, so we get and extra hour, so you all have no excuse of 9am or later, you can get up at 8am! :smash:

Oh crikey....double whoops!!..........it's not just my geography that's crap. :slap:

If we go for the 9am ferry, we have to be there 8.30 LATEST. In order to convoy we must meet up by 8.00 LATEST! We are not all local, I am coming from Swindon, TonyC from Daventry etc. this would mean too early an alarm call for me.

I still think the 10.15 ferry is best choice but how about a compromise? What about the 9.45 ferry with us meeting up by 8.45 (providing it's not too far from the ferry).

EDIT: The ferries are 8.45 or 9.15, there is not one at 9.00. So I still go for the 9.45 one.

Dave

What about getting tickets in advance. I doubt if we can buy when we get there?

i did say that people will have to arrange there own tickets . i personally cannot afford to pay out for 10 + tickets to the island.. so everybody please get them in advance

Not wanting to cause any undue trouble(if ya get my drift)but correct me if i am wrong, this is a South Central Meet ,so,going back to JAE AGM i recall it being stated that there are club funds available, and anyone looking to have/arrange say this kinda thing(or whatever) could apply for funds,it all helps,no matter what is given,i wonder sometimes too as to wether the fact that we as a club do not have more things on the agenda, away from things like the Jap shows,JAE etc etc.Trackdays,Karting,Absailing, white water rapids :D you get me drift ;) this would surley enable peeps to meet more members, get to know people better,a form of bonding if ya like :D Lets say all i had to pay for was the fuel, bet ya loads more would be thinking,Not bad idea, maybe worth it,especialy with the Club chipping in.

Just an idea,Tony
