thinking of a tour de island meet so we can hook up with scotty who is always coming onto mainland so i thought its about time we returned the gesture.

would like to have a bit of a look round so scotty seeing as your local you can sort a little tour for us.

want to make a day for it so leave early. there are a few route options but as most of you are between b'mouth and soton lymington is the most viable option and i have confirmaton from scotty lowered cars and low bumpers ( if careful ) can access the ferry easily.

right guys, ive just come back from the IOW in my 200, not trying to put anyone off but hand on heart it was the WORST driving experience ive ever had!! managed to get on the boat without scraping anything although only because they let me park in the bottom deck, but it was close and im not that low.

arrived at cowes wanted to travel to west cowes, but you have to cross a "floating bridge" which is basicaly a small boat that goes every 5 mins, and ill tell u what i dont think youd get a standard zed on it, let alone anything even slightly lowered. the guy was a complete asshole "shouldnt drive such an impractical car then" so i had to add about 10 miles on the journey and drive round, couldnt find any garages that did optimax or equivalent.

went to seaview where the roads are a fookin joke, id refuse to pay council tax if i lived there, theres pot holes every metre, i couldnt go over 30mph for 80 percent of the drive, and even if i could theres a speed camera every fookin 100 metres! and as for parking £5 an hour at morrisons!!!

and most of the locals look like there ready to rob you! right thats my rant over! out of breath now, but u get the general idea! sorry if i offended anyone who lives there but i aint going back!!

where did you go from cos lyminton has the best access for lower cars.

You get to East Cowes from Southampton . Portsmouth to Fishbourne woulda been better , and a shorter crossing , to get to Seaview .

Funny that, I 've got one of the lowest cars on the forum and I have never had any more problems with the roads over here than I do on the mainland (motorways excepted) yes some of the roads are crap i the smaller towns (like Seaview) but they are no worse than many of the 'B' roads I have driven on whilst on the mainland.

"The locals look like they're ready to rob you"???!! WTF? The island has one of if not the lowest crime rates in the whole country.

And to say it was the worst driving experience you have ever had, you must live and drive on the silverstone circuit. :slap:

taken everything on board what everyone has said, im willing to risk it, but i think we shud deffo get sum local knowlege, ie ppl who live there and plan proper routes to were we are gunna go and stick to the planed roads, im not fuking my paint up for no one, however i wud really love to go to the IOW.

so Gaz lets organise a meet to organise this cruise to IOW.

thought thats what i was trying to do lol. scotty is the local and will be leading the convoy once we are over there (he now knows lol)

we just need to get there and to be honest the best option for us is to go via wightlink they have some great deals on at the moment.look at

http://www.wightlink.co.uk/specialoffers/autumn/index.htm

Dont worry, I'll stick to the main roads TBH I was thinking of a tour around the coastal roads anyway, as the scenery is stunning. And we wont be going to Seaview :nelson:

just my two pennys worth, tbh im sure there are some parts that are great think i probably just had bad luck.

That floating bridge is a pain in the A**e i have been over 20 odd times and only took my 3rd gen Transam (i used to own) over the floating bridge once and that was not that low! I would not like to take the Zed over that birdge! I would rather use it as a foot passenger! ;)

The roads are not too bad over there! mind you i only stick to the main roads!

Always plenty of road works  but you get that here as well! Its just that the main roads can be alot smaller over there!

Ferry crossing is expensive so i would not ever live there as it would be too expensive to commute to the main land!

I cant go to this meet although i would like too! As i am waiting a few weeks for some turbos from a forum member who has kindly let me have his in exchange for a few £££ as he is upgrading to Greddy 18g's :headvswal ! I wish i could too! :D

btw you will have to book your own tickets for the ferry.

im still waiting for some water pipes to be delivered and the bodywork is sort of underway now.

october 29th as in first post bud :hyper:

What time ferry are you planning to catch (there and back) as I assume this is to be a convoy. It sounds fun, I might come down from Swindon if it's not too early a start (and if you can put up with an old fat and wrinkly member).
